A college student from Long Island was arrested in Westchester today and charged with making hundreds of fake driver's licenses and selling them to students who used them to drink in local bars.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said 20-year-old Edward Henselder, of Melville, Long Island, was charged with one count of Forgery and one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, both felonies.
Henselder, a freshman at Pace University, who resided at Dow Hall in Briarcliff Manor, allegedly made and sold hundreds of high-quality fake New Jersey drivers licenses and sold them for $25 dollars a license.
It's believed that the fake licenses were sold to underage students so they could go to bars and drink. The legal drinking age in New York State is 21.
A search warrant was executed on Mr. Henselder's room and police seized three computers, including a lap top, which police believe were used to create the fake licenses.
The New York State Liquor Authority and local police also raided two bars popular with students from Pace University -- Paulies Sports Bar in Pleasantville and Finnegan's Bar in Mount Pleasant. Local police confiscated seventy fake licenses.
Henselder is being held in the Westchester County Jail. His next court date is March first in Briarcliff Manor court.
A time-honored tradition, this fade ID deal, but unfortunately today this kid will be lucky if he isn't branded as a terrorist. Probably some kind of federal statute about "aiding and abetting terroristic drinking."
I got a dup license and doctored it myself when I was a kid.
But you are right, this kid will suffer under the new restrictions.
If I were young today and doing what I did, I'd probably be serving a life sentence as an "habitual criminal".
Either the ID’s were not that good or the kid was not charging enough. I am sure the market would pay a good deal more than $25 for a quality forged ID.
I'ld be serving time in Gitmo :P
