This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I know what you mean.
My concern is two fold, and I'm trying to get there, is not only was this man hitting this horse repeatedly, HE PLACED, 2ND....and from what I've been told, I'm not the only one that saw it. He wasn't trying to hide it at all, he was doing it at a PR, and not only me but the others that saw it could NOT figure out what the horse was doing to deserve it....

That's the puzzler. Usually if you see someone getting on a horse's case... you can at least tell what the problem is.
CindyDawg, I forgot to ask how you were doing with your new gadgets, and whether the free Swiss Army cap was helpful.
I received a private message asking why I'm asking about abuse and DQ. I told:\. I don't know who the person was, but she/he said my reply would be kept confidential....We'll see.

Well, I'm back from town. It's dreary out but I settled up with the vet over the kitten last week.
I described what I saw personally. And also told her about what I had "heard" about the other incidents.
Did the vet turn out OK, as OK as something like that could be:\
We are getting lots of thunder here, but no rain so far. Mack said it poured in town and Bixby had some street flooding, but that's pretty typical of Bixby:)

The vet turned out as well as can be... they charge something, even when it doesn't work. A few people sent help with the dollar amount, and that helps alot, with our job situation up in the air :~\ All in all, I feel good that she got some love and mercy at the end. She would have died terrible and sick if I hadn't brought her in. ~sigh~
Homer got to go with me for a ride in the front of the truck, he loved that... Life is good :~D

Oh well then she was just chewing. She wasn't bored. She wanted to eat grass and I wouldn't let her.
It was a honor. The holster, is still sitting here on my desk. I broke the knife in the first day though. That blade is sharp. Ouch. Actually, I used it , the other day. I put some saddle bags on the horse and I cut some plactic line off. The cap is my favorite. It keeps the hair out of my eyes:') Thanks.
