TUCKER, Ga. (AP) -- A strange chain of events that began with a traffic accident and a gas leak ended this week with the discovery of nearly $900,000 worth of marijuana growing in a suburban apartment.

It began when a drunken driver crashed into an apartment building Sunday morning, said Officer Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The collision ruptured a gas line, prompting firefighters to respond to check for leaks. While checking inside one of the units, they found an indoor pot growing operation, Moloney said.

If the fire ever hit that apartment, the whole neighborhood woulda had a "contact high" to last 'em the weekend.

They must have some VERY big apartments around there to be able to grow $900,000.00 worth of pot, or is this just another inflated drug bust figure.

At $1,000.00 a pound that is 900 pounds.

A sweep of the apartment netted 182 plants still in pots in three separate areas of the unit. The estimated street value of the 3,121 ounces of marijuana seized is $884,892

$283 and change for a lid!?! Man Im glad I gave that stuff up when I did.

It never ceases to amaze me how the police estimate the street value of drugs. Very fuzzy math.

That's a good tactic to get around the issue of illegal search and seizure. Maybe President Bush should use it with suspected terrorists!

Is that what pot sells for these days? I knew I should've invested 25 years ago.

Very fuzzy math.

That's the after effect from inhaling the aroma of all those plants.
