The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Vey nice decorations! I love Donna's little red tree. I bought a small boxwood tree at the Holly Fair last weekend. When I get my island cleaned off, I'll put it there. ;o)

We would always put celery and onion in the turkey cavity. Didn't often roast chicken as they just weren't big enough. ;-)

I make cornbread dressing tonight, as we had leftover cornbread from earlier this week - turned out vey tasty. I baked it a little, just to make the edges crunchy. Mmm. Glad there are leftovers!

Hope everything with Mrs. Stormhands' foot turns out all right. Clare is still nursing her sore toe. We had some crutches in the attic, so she's going to use those for school tomorrow. Thankfully, the classroom building has an elevator.

Good morning...Thanks

Please assume the rest of the stockings are over the fireplace(s) :)

Good morning everyone. A tough couple days and it's just getting started.

Today is Day One of Moving Week-- I'm moving across --town-- and this morning is paperwork and empty-the-car.

As soon as I think places are likely to be open I'm off to the DMV to change the address, bank for same, and apartments to sign the lease and get the key. Then there's a bunch of stuff in my car for the new place, and a couple pieces Wal-Mart furniture to pick up and move in.

Tomorrow the first things from here to there will go...and so on.

I'm going to be pretty sparse around here for a li'l bit.

Yeah, I hope you enjoy it!

Not that cold, no. Just a pain when you forget your gloves.

He's a real pain sometimes, isn't he? Glad he doesn't do that to my stuff.

It doesn't bother me so much as it confuses me. What does he really expect to find? I've never had a tuna or catnip stash in there...why keep checking?
