If the command "chmod 640 *.*" is issued as root, what will happen? The wildcard "*.*" matches both "." and "..". ".." references the parent directory. The command given as shown will turn everything on the system into a non-executable. In essence, the system is thoroughly hosed.

If root's ~/.rhosts contains the line "+", what are the implications? The system is wide open to remote commands run locally as root. This question implies that rsh and the like are enabled.
