This nomination is actually the final straw for many conservatives.

If this is the "final straw", then they were never true to the core conservatives anyhow. They, like McCain, should be driven from the party, but I've never been one to support a "big tent" philosophy in the first place..I know it's a necessary step to succeeding with our agenda.

"This nomination is actually the final straw for many conservatives."

Yeah, so they leave the party and ultra lefties take over power. We saw what happened when conservatives broke up over Perot...we got Clinton for 8 long years....the next dem prez will be far worse than Clinton...he or she will be a pawn of soros and gang....good bye democracy hello communism.

Bunch of pouting crybabies....yuck!

That's about as significant as the last capture of Zarqawi's second in command.

If the nomination of Miers is what it takes for some so called "conservatives" to stop voting Republican, then their values don't mean much to them in the first place. Bush isn't even running for re-election, and even though she wouldn't have been my first choice, I sure as HELL am NOT going to check my conservative beliefs and convictions at the door next election day. It's stupid to even say that real conservatives will stop voting Republican because Bush nominated Miers instead of a spoiled harvard graduated up on high holier than thou judicial veteran elitist snob who is a favorite on the party citcuit. Any conservatives that stop voting Republican because of that are way too narrow minded and self important to be voting in ANY ELECTION! You are SUPPOSED to believe what you believe because you know it's right, not because it's convenient and not because the people in charge always do what you yourself would have done the exact way you would have done it. I can't even believe the assinine nature of that kind of premise. It's the kind of silly childish thing I'd expect from liberals!!! "FINE! You won't play the way I want to! Well!!! I'LL SHOW YOU! I'll take MY toys (vote) and go HOME! HMPH! That will teach you!" God that's stupid!!! Are there ANY adults who've actually been living in the real world who are opposed to Miers for real factual provable reasons, and not just because you think you could have thrown the ball further more accurately and completed the game winning touchdown pass???

There are many conservatives out there that just look for an excuse to be offended. I think they major in offense taking. They are forever standing on their principles and losing. They are the proud losers of the political world. They will never obtain power because at the slightest provocation they pick up their marbles and go home.
Well, here they go again. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan.

I think Harreit Miers is an excellent choice. I believe that she will be more conservative than Roberts.Ibelieve that 2 years from now all the nay sayers will have to eat crow. As a graduate of an elitest eastern college, I do not believe that you have to have a degree from Harvard or Yale to be brilliant. Some of the people I graduated with who were considered "brilliant" didn't have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel. (An Old Texas saying.)

President Bush has known this woman for 10 years. He has worked with her everyday. He is an excellent judge of character and talent. He is a graduate of both Yale and Harvard. Contrary to the political propaganda put out by the Dems, he isn't short of billiance in his own right. You don't graudate from either school without a great deal of intellect in your own right. It doesn't matter who your father is. Just ask Ted Kennedy. He got thrown out of Harvard for cheating and all of his Daddy's money didn't help.

I trust President Bush. If he says she's as conservative as Scalia, she will be.
