The Law of Unintended Consequences is in effect here. I agree there needs to be laws protecting the valor of those who earned it. But this law, as written, will make YOU a felon for simply trying to acquire a couple of missing WW2 Campaign Medals to fill in your grandpa's shadowbox. It's ridiculous! VFW and American Legion Halls would be stripped of their medal displays. Your family would not be allowed to receive medals from your father or other relatives. I could go on, but you can see the point. I think by adding the phrase "With intent to defraud" to this law would make it work for me.
Since a socialist liberal (John Salazar(D)Colorado) sponsored this Bill, I believe the real intent of this bill is to restrict the possession and display of the tokens of our military hero's to further dilute our national pride. It's seems more of the same to me.
