The other day I ran into the women that used to be our Republican Party Chairwomen here in Franklin County. She said the Republican Party is backing
Diane Tebelius, to run for US Senate against Maria Cantwell.
Anyone have any thoughts on this candidate?

People weren't happy about how the message board operated, they wanted something more like standard threads. Where things don't scroll off forever in short order (the WA message board was VERY active, quite literally orders of magitude greater than any other state board I've seen), where you can post pictures, highlight text, etc. etc.

"Why do you need this thread?"Maybe it is because we can bookmark these threads and refer back to them. On the message boards they just continue on and on and on and you could be searching forever for a discussion you may want to refer back to.

The Washington State message board format is awful. I never posted on it because it was a royal pain in the whatever.

The state increased the number of government employees by more than 1,600 this year, I'm appalled that 1600 people would want to work for that woman.

I don't know Diane Tebelius really well, but I've talked with her and have watched her previous campaign. I don't think she is strongly conservative, but I think she's likely to be less liberal than Jennifer Dunn. She's also a great campaigner; at the very
least she would give Cantwell a tough race.
If she runs, she's likely to have my (active) support.

Extremely smart woman-- but I wonder if she is charismatic enough to unseat Cantwell (not that cantwell is charismatic at all).
To: I_like_good_things_too
I think she could be. She comes across quite well in one-on-one discussions; she left us very conflicted about the primary last year -- we've known Luke Esser personally for years and really like him, Dave Reichert was an obviously strong contender though he seemed (to me) a bit shy as a campaigner, and Diane Tebelius was a smart campaigner... we found we just couldn't sign up with any of the campaigns.

It's funny, I was conflicted between Esser & Tebelius myself. I heard them both speak in a small venue and also had a follow up discussion with Tebelius. However, matching them up, Esser just seemed a lot more high energy. Personally I thought Tebelius was a better choice, but it seems most people vote based on the vibe they get from a candidate (sadly)-- so I was looking at those things. It'll be interesting to watch. I will be dismayed if we get another 6 years of cantwell.

If you have been linked to our ping list by accident, we'll get you removed. motleygirl70 is not on the WA State Ping List.
