Best Music to Drive By
N/A ^ | 07-28-05 | DaiHuy

I was just sitting here thinking about a 1500 mile drive I have to make, and contemplating burning a couple CDS for the drive. I found some music that would make it more interesting but not enough. So here is the question.

If you were going to drive from Phoenix to Indy, you were in a sports car, what music would you want to have on your cd?

New Order, Oingo Boingo, and the Smiths if you want to mellow out a little. Drive safely.

The first is the best. Add ZZ Tops entire Tejas album and the Stones Exile on Main street!

I am bringing Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon, and Genesis' Foxtrot (that's a Gabriel-era Genesis for those who don't know)

When we take our annual family vacation, we always listen to The Big Chill and we all sing at the top of our lungs.

Godsmack

I'll second that for long desert drives. Also try Alter Bridge and Nickelback.

Two CD's = 140 minutes or so - that's about 600 miles per hour. Slow down a bit, eh?

I'd suggest Allman Brothers- the Fillmore Concerts. SRV - The Sky is Crying, and Texas Flood. Eric Clapton - Me and Mr. Johnson.

The theme music to the Teletubbies. Over and over again.

At least that is what my infant children seemed to like.

You might ask this question to these guys:

Tiny Mix Tapes

They tend to go for today's music so it may not be appropriate for your tastes. But if you tell them your age, they might gear it to more "classic rock" kind of stuff. Either way there suggestions may be interesting.

"Agile, Mobile, and Hostile" by Andre Williams - raunchy old times blues dude backed by punk rock garage band asskickers.

The album is "Silky" and it rocks.

If you're driving across country, Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring" is without compare.

Lots of Guy Clark, Larry Joe Taylor, Jerry Jeff Walker, Asleep at the Wheel, Hank Williams (any old C&W). But that's just me. Of course that would be only if I was riding by myself, Mrs ladtx takes a dim view of constant C&W for 2 days straight.
