Katie Holmes says she's converting to the Church of Scientology, embracing the religion of her boyfriend, Tom Cruise.
Holmes, in London to promote her new film, "Batman Begins," said Monday that she's excited about her lessons in Scientology, a religion founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.
The 26-year-old actress and Cruise went public with their romantic relationship in April. The former Catholic and star of television's "Dawson's Creek" grew up with a poster of Cruise on her bedroom wall and has said she grew up wanting to marry him.
"We all keep dreaming, and luckily, dreams come true," Holmes said.

IIRC, Mr. Hubbard originally founded his religion as a bet. Here is an apparently unbiased overview of their beliefs.
>The former Catholic and star of television's "Dawson's Creek"<
Unbelievable. Was she "former" before or not until Cruise got his wacked-out claws into her?
Will Smith maybe? He's a player.
Thanks! All I can say is Oh my goodness. People will fall for anything.
LOL
Coincidentally, I just watched "Cromwell" yesterday.
Couldn't say. Haven't been following her career as closely as I should.
You know Nicole was also Catholic when she met Tom. If I am not mistaken.
The mother was probably livid til Tommy boy waved money around.
Tom has said on numerous occasions any woman dating him seriously had to convert to scientology. I think it is interesting that he is a former Catholic and Nicole and Katie were also Catholic.
I suspect that Katie probably thinks that she can practice Scientology and still be Catholic. I'd wager that Nicole used to think the exact same thing.
Good thing she had enough money to get in that cult or she'd be wearing a burqa in the other one.....
Holy Herpes Batman.........dat's nasty !!
Which she can't because Scientologists do not believe in God which makes being a Scientologist and a Catholic very unlikely. I hope her Bishop writes her a letter explaining what she is doing to herself. Of course she probably could care less.
What happened to Deb?
I came across this site on scientology on FACTnet. Very scary stuff.
so-what alert. they probably paid her a ton and called it a marketing expense. you know, like any "church" would.
