Good advice. Disable the on board sound table via the BIOS and pop in a cheap PCI card and its drivers and see if it makes a difference.

At one time I had a conflict with a SoundBlaster card and and IDE PCI controller card and had to switch to the MB sound system. I switched back and the conflict was gone.

I appreciate the input. I'll give it a shot... however there will be limitations as this is my work computer and the Admin doesn't know much and doesn't care.... also he attempts to block the privilages one has on changing things in the computer.

But to keep my sanity I need some sound for music and video.
