I think what you are trying to ask is "Why have we let the government run our lives?".
We have not only 1 government. We have mutiple overlapping governments. City, county, state, and federal powers cover every facet of everyday life.
We are taxed on utilities, food, gas, cigarettes, drink containers, property, used car sales, etc., etc., etc. Permits are necessary for any new use of your property or business. Overseers are everwhere.
Does these governments serve US, or are we merely slaves to the sytem?
