On trail rides for lunch stops, rope halters are great.
Not as heavy and bulky as the nylon or leather to carry.
The halter/bridle combos would be ideal, but I never got one.

Not as heavy and bulky as the nylon or leather to carry. If the knot is tied right, they won't come loose if the horse is straining on em. I had an old mare one time that lost her cool while tied up to a hitching rail one day. She was sitting back for all she was worth and when the buckle on the halter broke she cut a flip straight back.
She was a crazy old thing anyway.

Good morning everyone, Great to see the new thread, and new picures :)
I'll have to go back and find a picture of the pony to look at her feet. I like the rope halters, nice and light weight. We have two or three head stalls that are bridle/halter combination - for the horses that are ridden endurance.
