Mariah Carey does an Ursula Andress in 'Casino Royale':- London January 17, 2005 2:18:35 PM IST
Singer Mariah Carey has reportedly inked a deal to star in remake of "Casino Royale". Carey will be playing the part of Vesper Lynd, made famous by Swiss actress Ursula Andress, in the new movie version of the 1967 Bond spoof.
"It's a comedy so Mariah's going to be making fun of herself," Femalefirst quoted a source as saying.
Earlier, Mariah had acted in 2001's 'Glitter', in which she is a young singer who is desperate to become a star and dates a DJ. The movie was not appreciated by the critics and was a box-office flop. (ANI)
Remaking Casino Royale is a rotten idea.
Will she be wearing one of her usual tube top outfits? Yuck.
There's no modern equivalent of David Niven. And please, don't anyone think of bringing back an aging Woody Allen.
In any case, I know Ursula Andress-- Ursula Andress was a fantasy of mine-- and you, Mariah, are no Ursula Andress.
Well said.
I think Mariah's cute, but she sure ain't Ursula.
I have no idea on whether the remake will be straight or a spoof, but I will say that 'Casino Royale' has more in common with the short novel that was the source material than many, many other James Bond movies have with their source materials. Off the top of my head, the films 'Moonraker, 'A View To A Kill' and 'Octopussy' have almost nothing to do with the original stories of the same names.
Also, the theme music for the original can't be topped.
didn't she play Catwoman too?
Burt Bacharach's scores for 'Casino Royale' and 'After The Fox' are among my favorite soundtracks of all time! You have great taste! :-)
Brosnan wanted to do a straight redo of the novel, and Quentin Tarentino has offered to either direct or produce it. So far, it looks like the keepers of the Bond franchise aren't talking, but you're right, it's definitely one of Fleming's best stories. As for "Moonraker", the movie is a horrid mess that doesn't even come close to resembling the novel.
Actually, the one movie that is the most faithful is the one that gets panned, and undeservedly so: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".
Wild!
I much preferred her in 'Underneath the Mangoe Tree', or whatever the name of that film was.
For a high school senior the effect was greater than any modern pill.
