Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We're living on a western desert horse property but haven't yet taken the plunge. Little girls here are horse crazy though. Can you add me to your ping list please?
At first glance I thought this thread was about the Australian tweeny kid show "The Saddle Club" and thought..whoa those folks are hard core.

I made a vet appointment with the horse vet to come out Tuesday.... teeth and sheath for Bay, annual checkups for all the others, shots, and he even said he'd bring a shot of something or another for the Homer dog's itching.
I ~want~ to try to figure out how to take a couple snapshots of my vet while he's here. Not sure what excuse I'd use for taking pictures but I'd like to post them for y'all. He's so cute :~D Married to a very nice wife who is cute as can be, but he's still very very cute. ;~D

I made the window wide and then narrowed it again :~D... The preview screen is narrow.

On what possible premise could I take pictures while he's here? Just got a new camera for Christmas? Have a niece interested in Veterinary school? what? Heh...
Mack has changed something on the computer, I'm not familiar with the new way to do stuff, so I haven't posted new pictures to the site. I have some new ones. Maybe tomorrow he'll help me figure out what to do.

I'll try. I wanted to when he was here before when Bay was colicky, and I felt dreadfully guilty for thinking about it, because I was really worried about my horse :~D

I'm just afraid I'll blush like a school girl and he'll never buy it.
I go back with this vet since he worked at the dog and cat hospital I take the dogs to. He once picked a flea off my neck that had hopped off an infested cat. Oh - and he and I gave my labrador an enema together once. :~D He said at the time that he was really looking forward to his own horse practice.
ecurbh, in his general comfortable unthreatened way, thinks he can tell why I get so silly around him ;~D
Nothing new yet. I think we may have a couple of weeks yet. Hope to have pics of Adge up by the weekend.

Love it - looks like he's getting a shower on a hot day.
Yeah, he gets hosed off a lot when it's hot. Loves it. I actually caught him pawing the hose till he'd put a hole in it, then stand in the spray. Sad thing is I thought the dog was doing it, and was always hollering at him for it everytime I found a new hose. Then one day I saw Rusty doing it.
