Let's not forget Hitchcock's "Spellbound" which used the Theremin to great effect. Also the score of "North by Northwest" is perfectly integrated with the film. Come to think of it, most of Hitchcock's films had great scores to help make them cinema classics.

One correction: "As Time Goes By" was not written for Casablanca.

Agree with many scores on his list, especially Raintree County, The Big Country, Walk On The Wild Side, The Bad And The Beautiful, On the Waterfront, East Of Eden.

Notice that these are from a past golden age of film scores? And that most of the great film composers are gone?

Today's films just use stuff from the latest pop/rock/hip hop artistes. The trite, 8th-grade level stories aren't worthy of such scores, anyway.
