I checked Google. They say it was Buffalo Bob Smith in 1951 on New York radio....but when I clicked to go to the radio history link, I could not find the actual quote in the text. I used "Buffalo Bob" and "That ought to satisfy the little". It worked in quotes on Google
Wow. 19 answers already!
I should have posted my other boyhood TV memories to see what other Freepers might know about them...;-)
Sometimes "recreations" are staged of these urban legends, and they are audio taped. For instance, another urban legend says that a kid on the "Bozo" TV show, upon losing a game, got mad and said "cram it, clownie," to Bozo. It never actually happened, but an audio recording of the "event" was made, using actors, and it has been included in "blooper" type albums. So there may actually be a tape of someone saying, "That'll hold the little SOBs," but the tape might be a recreation.
We waited 13 years for our BOZO tickets. Wound up missing Bob Bell because of it. Man, Cookie looked old!
;-)
Freepers know everything!
Just ask us!
BWAA HA HA HA
I DO remember being on the Bozo the Clown show set, when he was speaking to the children at a table, perhaps a birthday party table, and a little boy said to him, quite clearly and on camera, "I farted."
No urban legend there, pal.
What more do we need?
I am seriously thinking of posting other TV memories to get information from anyone who might know. I just don't want to piss off everybody who only wants news links.
Actually, it's quite funny. There are several Bozo memories I have of children being too young for the games and busting out SCREAMING and crying.
LOL
"Could it have been Soupy Sales?"
What Soupy Sales did was tell the little children watching that as their dads were probably taking a nap at the time (Saturday afternoon - my dad certainly was!) the kids should sneak in a take the $1.00 bills out of dad's pockets and send them into him.
I absolutely SWEAR I saw that with my own eyes, I was old enough to know it was a joke, but I don't think it worked out well for him.
Actually he said to get the "green pieces of paper" from dad's wallet. So friggin' hilarious!!!!
LOL
Soupy Sales managed to work in Flipping the Finger to his Manager while doing a skit about waving and hand gestures on his B&W television show.
"The Little SOBs" line was supposedly given by the radio announcer at the end of sn episode of "The Lone Ranger".
Jack.
I don't see why you shouldn't. Just make sure the posts are in "General/Chat" or "Smoky Backroom" and don't put them in "News" - you should do fine.
The collective intelligence of the freepers can probably solve any problem.
Happy Turkey Day.

Take your best shot, pilgrim. :-)
