Our troops need a holiday surprise. Gone for another year, we need to send them some Holiday cheer. We are starting our Stockings for Troops Campaign. We would like for all of the men and women in the military to know that they are not forgotten this holiday season. Please help by donating a stocking and an AT&T phone card so all our military members may call home and share the holidays with their families.

Well here is something we do without fan-fair. It's easy find someone with a family member in the service. Get an Express mail box from the post office (you send it express to the APO and the army ships it overseas. Now when you go to the store pick up an item of two or three every trip. If you do it right you will always have too many items (So you will have a start on the next package. Some of the items i include...every package is different...international coffee...Chips in a can...Smokes or dip...slim jim jerky...toilet products...gum or mints...Halls vitamin c....a newspaper....and a Letter....the whole thing costs $20-$40 depending...But you could send less items more often...

Another great program is Certifichecks.com , where you have the following options:

* make a charitable contribution of a "Gifts from the Homefront" gift certificate to a military organization.

* send a military exchange gift certificate to a loved one, family member, or Authorized Patron associated with the military.

* make a charitable contribution of a Commissary gift certificate to a military organization.

* send a Commissary gift certificate to a loved one, family member, or Authorized Patron associated with the military.

These certificates can be purchased by ANYONE and can be redeemed at all military exchanges and commissaries WORLDWIDE.

As a Navy wife, I know firsthand it really does help a lot when they get those little gifts from home. I remember on my husband's last deployment that he ended up having to send home all the Christmas cards and well wishes he got (a good majority of them being from a hometown Sunday school class) because he didn't have enough room for them in his storage space.
