I know Mr. O has accused Mackris of extortion, but I don't think I have ever seen where he has flat-out denied saying those things to Mackris over the phone. I saw an article today where O's lawyers said that Mackris could have hung up if she felt threatened. That makes it sound like O did, in fact, say the things attributed to him by The Smoking Gun and others. Thoughts?
No. He actually did it and it was all in good humor and she understood it that way too.
Still, I am disappointed that O'Reilly would even get close to a situation like this. It's smarmy. Also, I would imagine that "disappointed" is not the word to describe how Mrs. O'Reilly reacted.

Nor I, but I haven't followed every development.
Note that the BoR is accusing Mackris & Co of "extortion".
If he actually said those things, AND was willing to admit
it, then his complaint is not extortion, but blackmail
(the threatened dirt is real dirt).
My sense of the situation is that it is blackmail.
If so, Mackris & her lawyers are at some risk of
serious felony jail time. It might be wise of them
to drop their claims, and for both sides to mutally
agree to destroy any tapes. If this happens, we may
never really hear the proof that BoR is a sexist cad.
We already know he's a pompous unprincipled opportunist.

YES!!!!!!!!!!
It's funny that you mention that.
I can remember reading his first book, and his chapter on religion was sort of disturbing to me. It was all about how O'Reilly thought it was ridiculous for people to say that those who don't accept Jesus as their savior will go to hell, and how he thought all that was necessary was for you to be a "good" person.
I never liked the new-age, relativist brand of Christianity.
I think the allegations are probably true. Bill was spending an inordinate amount of time researching prostitutes and porn stars on the Factor. I had to stop watching. I hate to see a man enjoying himself on camera. Its embarrassing.
Well, he has asked for the tapes...
