Big Pistol
TNT ^ | 09-06-2004 | em2vn

Is anyone watching the current episode of Law & Order on TNT? In one scene a clerk entered the squad leader's room and said a 25mm pistol had just been found. I might buy into a 25 caliber but a 25mm is a little too much to accept.

Hollywood doesn't have a clue about firearms.

I thought everyone had that figured out before even the French Connection had hit theaters? More contemporary, Rambo pretty much just made up physics as thy went along.

Are we allowed to own 20 mm cannons, I wonder.
Probably only in semiauto ;-)

Isn't there a 25 automatic?? Oh well, most tv shows aren't very real...however Law & Order had done well for quite some time.

A full one inch bullet? Maybe it was an early 17th century swashbuckler's pistol.

You're not supposed to notice these things in movies. I have to tell my family this every time we watch a movie or TV show because Hollyweird messes up on so many things.

There is a .25 automatic pistol (1/4 inch), but not 25mm, which is larger than a 12 guage shotgun shell in dia. Not that I am the firearms expert around here.

I do own a 25mm flare pistol and I can tell you that if that thing shot a 25mm bullet, your wrist would know it for a long time after.

I seem to have the idea that fighter jets have small cannons that are 20mm.

THIS is a popular .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol: but I would neither buy nor carry one unless it was the only thing availible.

By my reckoning a 25mm round would be about twice the width of a .45 round.

The state I live in allows concealed carry with a permit. You can carry in your auto without a permit if your are 21 and not a felon. I don't think I could fit that thing in my pants or my car. My pick up maybe.

I once saw a 10 GA single shot pistol (no, I'm not telling where). A 12 GA is .72" so it must have about an inch.

"Just the thing...."

Yeah, that's what they meant a gatling gun.

I just finished helping with the shooting of an Indy film. Actors made mistakes like that all the time. The Script Supervisor or Continuity missed this one or it wasn't worth the time and energy to fix.

There may be Very pistols (flare guns) in that size,
but "stupidity" is the more likely explanation.
