Mike Celizec--Hamm Should Give Up Gold
MSNBC ^ | 8/22/2004 | Mike Celizec

ATHENS, Greece - Paul Hamm had his golden moment, and he grabbed it like a starving wolf latching onto a lamb chop. And now he has a golden opportunity, worth a lifetime of moments, and if he doesn’t grab it right now, it will be gone forever.

What a jerk. There's even a gratuitous comment about Bush in there.

I've been reading this Celizec all week and haven't agreed with him once yet, but until he published this trip I hadn't been pissed enough to say something.

We should be worried about what Korea thinks? After what happened with Roy Jones Jr. in Seoul? Recall that Jones pummelled a South Korean "boxer" for three full rounds before losing the match to him on a decision that most believe now was bought and paid for by corrupt judges.

Till this day that wrong hasn't been corrected. Yet Celizec thinks happen should give up a gold he deserves so we won't hurt the Koreans' feelings. (Hamm and his coach say they've found errors in the Korean's program that were not accounted for by the judges).

Does anyone know how to write Celizec; I'd like to show him that Americans can file some hate mail too.

Lately I have noticed MSNBC really turning hard left. George Soros must have agreed to underwrite a big advertising contract, since their ratings are so dismal.

I think the decision to say it was a mistake was purely political.

Hamm earned that medal. The Korean made a decision to use a routine that did not compare to a full 10pt routine. The judges in my opinion called it correctly.

It was not a ten.

"The point is if you collected all the ill will toward America on the planet and wadded it up into a ball, it would be a really big ball."

This guy gets paid to write this stuff?

Maybe he should find something that HE can give to the Koreans, like a really big ball of goodwill, or something.

Bad thinking, bad writing, and still he gets a paycheck. Man, I am in the wrong business.

If Hamm gives up the medal, it should be because it's the right thing to do, not to satisfy geopolitical whining and hard feelings.

Was reading an article about what Hamm had to say about the whole thing. He even said there was parts on the Korean's routine where points should have been taken off also.

When Hamm took that skidder across the floor on his butt into the judges table he got a 9.137. Way too high for not having his landing under control and being out of bounds. Others that went out of bounds got 8.9's.

Then he got silver when Nemov was robbed. What Paul does with the gold is his business but the judging was atrocious and three judges suspended including an AMERICAN judge.

The judges made a mistake by lowering the "stated" value of the routine. Please get THE FACTS STRAIGHT before you post anything.
Paul deserves to keep the medal; however, it shows his selfish desire. He is not the true champion no matter what. And he has to live with that. What a shame...

You ain't gonna last long here bud.

Just for your benefit, I will also add that the tapes show a two tenths additional deduct for the Korean.

You must be one of those America hating commies who grace our site from time to time.

Enjoy your very short stay!
