Chelsea Clinton is caught in a plastic surgery mystery after unveiling her sensational new model-girl looks.
The 24-year -old former first daughter has morphed from a plain Jane into stunning swan practically overnight--prompting intense speculaation that she has gone under the knife.
"Chelsea looks gorgeous--and so different," an insider close to the Clintons tells GLOVE. "It looks an awful lot like she's had some cosmetic help.
Her skin is positively glowing, and her face is nice and tight with not a wrinkle in sight. It's not that you'd expect someone her age to have wrinkles, but you don't expect her to have skin like a newborn."
And her new beauty may not be just skin-deep.
"Her face seems thinner, her chin more pronounced and her trademark chipmunk-cheeks have practically disappeared," observed the insider. "It suddenly seems as if all her facial features--eyes, ears and nose--are all perfectly proportioned."
But has she had plastic surgery?
"Everyone is dying to know," says the insider. "her mom has even been asked, but Hillary just smiles and says, 'Chels does look great, doesn't she?'"
Experts tell GLOVE that Chelsea may have turned to cosmetic surgery to achieve her dramatic new transformation.
"Chelsea looks like she may have had her eyes lifted and the tip of her nose reduced," says Dr. Paul Parker, a Paramus, NJ, cosmetic surgeon, who has not treated helsea. "And she may have had a chin implant.
The total effect is amazing. She certainly looks teriffic. What a makeover!"
But Dr. Geoffrey Tobias, of Englewood, NJ tells us that Chelsea's new appearance may also be the result of non-surgery improvements.
Tobias points out that Chelsea has lost her baby fat and added a new, sophisticated hairstyle--longer, straighter and very blond--that frames and thins her once-chubby face.
"She has enhanced her eyes with more dramatic makeup--eyeliner, shadow and mascara--and has had her brows waxed to form a more even and flattering line," notes Tobias, who also has not treated Chelsea. "She looks like a million bucks."
If Chelsea has indeed had plastic surgery, it's a dead giveaway that she is planning a public life, say sources.
"An amazing makeover like this definitely has a long-term implication," explains the insider. "If you start having work done at 24, you immediately know that you're going to have more surgery down the road.
"But it's certainly not uncommon for women planning a public life to make that decision. If you expect to be effective in public relations, international consulting or elective politics. it doesn't hurt to be beautiful."
According to the insider, Chelsea is already well versed in the relationship between personal appearance and public life.
"Chelsea was very hurt and resentful when political enemies made insulting remarks about her mom's appearance," the insider reveals.
"It's funny because Hillary always embraced the 'be-who-you-are, looks-are-less-important-than-character' school of thought. But when she became first lady, she glammed herself up immediately with a head-to-toe makeover.
"So if Chelsea has had cosmetic work, who can blame her?"
Chelsea's new look could also prove to be a good business decision.
"Absolutely no one will be shocked to discover that a gal who's easy on the eyes has an extra leg up the corporate ladder," says the insider. "It's a simple fact of life, and Chelsea has always been someone who was fearless in going after what she wants."
And the sources claiming that Chelsea now has secret plans to wed boyfriend Ian Klaus, the insider says, "What woman wouldn't do everything she could to be the most beautiful bride on the planet on her big day?"
She looks really good.
