On the web, on the news, on the radio, at church, at work, everywhere I go I find that people have come to the realization that not all idiots are "useful idiots". In fact it would be better for America if some of them weren't here at all. Many of us contribute to numerous campaigns to fight these people, with varying degrees of success. After hearing a protestor shouting on the news, an idea came to me (stick with me a minute here):
It's a question we've all asked: if so many people hate it here, why don't they leave? Many of them claim to wish to leave this country for Canada, France, or Germany. When pressed on the issue, those that come up with any reason for not leaving usually say it is an economic problem: high cost of moving, poor US economy, plus let's face it, the libs don't make much money working at the tofu stand :)
It occured to me that we might be missing something here... suppose there are 25 million people in the US who contribute to conservative causes, say to the tune of $10 each. (These numbers are low, just for example.) Now suppose that the average cost of turning some lib into a french surrender-monkey is $200K. Sounds like a lot, but I did some looking around online and the costs of getting citizenship in another country can be fairly high.
So, here's the situation: suppose we've got a conservative estimate of $250M from the 25 million of us who would pay 10 dollars to see fewer wackos in this country. We start an organization, a trust fund of sorts, whose sole purpose is to find liberals who say they want to leave the country, have them permanently and irrevokably surrender their US citizenship, and the trust fund handles the costs of getting them repatriated and set up in whatever country they dream is better than this one.
I know, it sounds absurd, why should we give them our money, but many of us already donate to groups whose bureaucracies eat up most of the donations and get less done... this trust fund idea gets to the point in a direct fashion, removes the problem at its roots. And think of the societal gains (well, in addition to fewer liberals :P ): fewer people on welfare, less abortion and childcare costs, fewer people causing problems, fewer embarassments to our country.
The economy of scale here is what makes it work: using the numbers above, if 25 million of us donated $10 per year, we could get rid of 1250 commies each year (call it a thousand after the lawyers get their share of it). They surrender their citizenship, go wherever the hell it is they think is better than the USA, and we don't need to deal with them anymore. Think about that... it would only take a couple of years to turn this into the country we want it to be, without all of the troublemakers.
Of course, if people donated and the cost per repatriation dropped low enough, this could get thousands more of them out of here each year, for basically pennies per person, like those old Sally Struthers commercials?
What do you think?
Cool! There are even some who would go on their on volition, at their own expense, if they thought they might have company.
Problem is, they think this country is actually theirs, not ours. They are the ones who strive to be the ones pulling the levers and twisting the dials, and quite frankly resent our "getting in the way".
The folks who view our government as something that not only should but must be "turned around" to benefit their pet projects and general ideology, which is socialism.
Anyway, I like your idea but suggest that is not nearly enough to make our country "safe for republicanism" again. Better would be to just start killing them at random. Might not have to kill 1000 per year to make them start feeling paranoid enough to either shut up or leave. (Just kidding of course, ha-ha.)
For the rest of us intelligent, thoughtful conservatives, we need to remember that the "useful idiots" are basically pawns serving the real masters of socialism and bigger government, and we really shouldn't waste much time thinking about them. Without leadership and funding, they will wither away in time.
Instead, concentrate your efforts at exposing the conspiritorial machinations of the self-appointed luminati at the top. A simple task, but not easy one.

*YAWN*
Under any circumstances.
Don't send us any snow, either - we've got enough of both!
Big smile and hi to ya JoJo...
Yes. Welcome to FreeRepublic.com .....
hehe ! Are you sure you wouldn't like ole algore up there ? He's a real SWELL guy ! :^)
He seems very angry.
Jackson and Daley just couldn't pull off the Election Theft, and I don't think he's handling it very well.
The incredible shrinking man !
Check out Al Gore's REVIEW of Cast Away.
ROFLMAO! Indeed, Canada is still reeling from the last gaggle of lefties who departed the US.
Don't be like that.
Come on, you know at least one conservative-voting Australian, whilst proud of her heritage, who'd love to live in the USA (yes, that IS me!) I fell in love with Oregon, for some reason... the fact that it's a "small-l liberal" state (as we Aussies call them) does not deter me. Hell, I lived in Connecticut, didn't I?
Anyway, I think this poster has a point.
From someone who was too poor to gain US residency (let alone citizenship) despite marrying a US citizen, I think you need all the help you can get. Would I move to the US again? In a heartbeat. As it is, though, I have to wait until mid-2006 to be allowed in to your fine country as a tourist... (meaning of course I couldn't attend my late husband's cremation)...
Hey, we could even have a telethon!
Wal-Mart, to me at least, stands as the symbol of the "Rush to the Bottom" economy. The other stores you mention are, sadly, trying to emulate the, uh, "success" of enslaving their workforce, upending local enconmies, and crushing any competitors.
In one way or another, each of those other places you mention somehow miss out on the full enslavement success model that Wal-Mart enjoys. They are trying to reach it, but aren't quite there.
Each of those places you have mentioned have probably closed stores in cities where Wal-Mart has prevailed, too.
But hey, as long as there is a China, there will be Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, and all those other folks, too.
And another thing, now that you've got me going: I've always been annoyed that there is such a store as "Pier 1 Imports". "Imports"?? It's all imports!
I would love to see somebody open up a "Made in the USA" store! Of course, folks might not like paying $60 for a pair of sneakers, and it would put fair pressure on the manufacturers to churn out true quality products, but hey, wouldn't it be nice to shop in a store where you knew all the $ was staying here?
