and an otherwise worthy conservative forum is slowly turning into a doormat for those with nothing better to do than to turn this arena into a circus.Don't you have anything better to do than turn this arena into a circus...?

I suggest that you do what everybody else does, and ignore the threads that do not interest you.
FreeRepublic is large enough to accomodate everybody.

Legitimate concerns shared by several.
Still a great news source thanks to the selfless posting ability of many FReepers for which I am always grateful.

Let's see, all those...blah blah blah...It's a shame.Hey, you forgot to add inane vanity posts. Don't forget those. Usually by people who really don't have much to add to the forum or conservative cause, but would rather bitch and moan about something that doesn't fit their agenda.
There's always LibertPost. Say hi to Toddler for us.

I don't think so, because there are soooo many threads about politics, with debate representing the right-wing spectrum of opinions (cept for the ultra-right margins who have been banned) that you can easily spend all your time reading and/or participating in them and never even look at the lighter stuff that many enjoy as a break from the heavier issues.
Anyway, I think it would be a hugh mistake to limit everyone to the series stuff. ;)

"Ninety percent of everything is crud."
Corollary: Only ten percent of anything is effective.
(Neither of the above statements is entirely accurate, particularly in regard to FR, but they will do as a measure till something better comes along.)
As long as the "ten percent effective" is effective in the way I want it to be I can deal with the "ninety percent crud".
I view FR is an important conservative communication link that should be kept open. If allowing some "filler" (much of which I don't read) helps with that, then it's oak with me.

Geezzz, It must be a slow news day. Not being able to take any time out to relax and enjoy, makes for a boring day. I suggest you rest and relax and enjoy the pictures being provided to you by Freepers, on this thread. Try having a nice day and take care and stop worry. The birds can take care of them selves, its the humans you have to watch out for.

Is this a tongue-in-cheek thread or a genuine opus? If its the latter, I have to tell you:
lame. I remember when an opus used to mean something, when a FReeper took a little pride in their work. I can picture many a FReeper past, hunched over keyboard, working the perfect phrase, mulling over each word in order to best address grievances point-by-point until, at last...the perfect rant. Where's the craftsmanship? Where's the attention to detail? Where's the
detail??? You have eked out a meager, what...three or four annoyances to create an opus about?
Yeesh! You're upset about Ann Coulter pictures and "Caption This" threads...tell me, friend, where is the value in that? Is the Republican party going to fall apart because Ambrose is hung up on pit bulls? Will O'Reilly lose his show because we may have posted one to many "Freep this poll" threads? Will abortion be mandatory because some of us want to discuss
Lord of the Rings? Is this truly the end of conservativism as we know it? Can you
believe Tapit didn't win the Derby?
Are we going to have to start a thread just to show how to properly craft an opus? You're right, Chambley. It IS a shame!

I can still find tons of wise conservative discourse, docs, support, challenges aplenty hereon . . . as well as some stress relieving diversity of other interesting topics and sometimes just kick-back threads.
One is tempted to wonder . . .
--Are you loose enough around the edges to have any friends or family? If so, do you spend any laid-back time with them?
--Are all your socks folded in color consistent groups according to some color wheel somewhere?
--Is your major connection to humor and balance through those words in the dictionary--almost only?
--Do you squeeze a precise amount of toothpaste out of the tube--EVERY--time--with one of those tube keys?
--Are your cold cereal boxes alphabetically arranged in the cupboard?
--Are your magazines arranged on the coffee table alphabetically?
--Do you have Clorox wipes and Lysol spray near every chair you frequently use?
--Are your sheets tucked in with hospital/boot-camp corners?
--Do your underwear NEVER have skid marks?
--Does even God frequently not run things quite according to your specifications?
IF
so,
then, perhaps,
you would do well to consider . . .
LIGHTENING UP a few standard deviations!!!???!
A lot of us find FR still meets our needs and facilitates us helping achieve it's founder's goals. So sorry, if, you don't.
