Drottningen ska berätta om arbetet med Childhood foundation. Här besöker hon ett av stiftelsens projekt i Brasilien.

"The queen will tell about her work with the Childhood Foundation. Here she visits one of the foundation's projects in Brazil."

Would love to hear some comments on her performance.

She did quite well. Soft-spoken, articulate, queenly. Her English is good. (I believe Silvia is a native of Germany, so English would be no higher than her third language.)

They showed some video of scenes in Sweden (including that building made out of ice), to talk about how wonderful it would be to visit Sweden. (It is, btw. I'll be in Sweden for six weeks, May 31-July 11.)

The bulk of the interview was about the World Childhood Foundation. Queen Silvia talked about abuse of children (especially sexual abuse) around the world, e.g., in Brazil, Thailand, and Russia.

Have you been here before? Which part are you going to visit?

Yes, I was in Sweden in August of 2002. We visited along the West Coast, in Bohuslän, Göteborg, and Halland. The Henriksson family farm (where my farfar grew up) is in Bohuslän, not far from the city of Tanumshede, almost to Lur, in a place called Torbal. In Halland, we stayed at the prästgård of a pastor friend in Frillesås. And I attended a theological conference in Göteborg.

This time I will be taking a six-week intensive course in advanced Swedish. For five weeks I'll be at the town of Grebbestad, on the coast of Bohuslän (with some weekend excursions). Then the last week the class goes to Stockholm.

I'll write a post about it again in May, before I leave for Sweden.

Not bad! My family spends the summer in Grebbestad and some friends even have summer houses in Lur!

If my work and other plans permit it I will go down there and dive this summer. Would be cool to have a cup of coffee with a fellow Freeper...
