New 'Godless Americans' PAC [New Enemy Alert]
http://www.godlessamericans.org/pacarticle005.php ^ | March 9, 2004 | Ellen Johnson

Ellen Johnson, President of Godless Americans PAC, shares her comments:

*snip*

Here, in and around Washington, DC, every conceivable interest group has representation, a presence, a "seat at the table," so to speak. That phrase, incidentally, was often used by Ralph Reed, the former head of the Christian Coalition. He lamented the supposed absence of political influence fundamentalist Christians exercised "inside the beltway," and he set out to change that state of affairs. He often said that the so-called "people of faith" simply wanted "a seat at the table in the great discussion called democracy."

In fact, religious people of just about all faiths and denominations are here "inside the beltway" with lobbyists and organized political muscle, along with just about every other interest group you can think of. Gays are here, so is the National Rifle Association, the American Medical Association, major labor and industrial groups, ethnic organizations, movements claiming to speak on behalf of women - you name it. But conspicuously absent from this scene has been a segment of American which, until recently, has been largely ignored.

They are what we call "Godless Americans." We are Atheists, Freethinkers, Rationalists, and Secular Humanists.

*snip*

But here's the real shocker. In the introduction to the ARIS survey, the researchers noted the following:

"Often lost amidst the mesmerizing tapestry of faith groups that comprise the American population is also a vast and growing population of those without faith. They adhere to no creed nor choose to affiliate with any religious community. These are the secular, the unchurched, the people who profess no faith in any religion." And the ARIS researchers add that there is a widespread misperception that America has recently been, or is in the midst of a religious re-awakening. They note:

"In sharp contrast to that widely held perception, the present survey has detected a wide and possibly growing swath of secularism among Americans. The magnitude and role of this large secular segment of the American population is frequently ignored by scholars and politicians alike."

Folks, I could not believe what I saw on C-SPAN this morning. But, this Animal Farm fiasco is real. These people even sell fun stuff. Here is a lunch box they sell, if you need to add a spare target to your shooting range:

The have faith - in their belief that there is no God; in their belief that man is the measure of all things; that their eternal destiny is not a stake - Romans 1:18-20 - They are, and will be, without excuse!

You bet they have faith. The really sad and difficult part is reaching deceived minds regarding the problem associated with re-enframing this whole conflict for what it is evitably going to degrade to .....

sectarianism and inter-religious strife.

"Nonbelievers are an enemy? Is Christianity just another Religion of Peace?"

Funny ... I don't recall posting a word against any of these folks in the name of Christianity. No, I think I made it clear these are folks who want to wipe out religious freedom period.

But, maybe that's not clear ... to some. So, in short, I'll say this: these people, the Godless Americans PAC are a religion. They are attempting to use government to promote their faith system, godlessness, and impose it on others, especially Christians. Perhaps you've heard what some of these folks have proposed during the GAMOW (Godless Americans March on Washington in 2002:

'August Brunsman, founder of the Secular Student Alliance, called for nonbelievers on college campuses to become more active in countering religion-based proselytizing. '

"On the lighter side, the "Reverend" Chris Harper of the popular Landover Baptist Church presented a fire-and-brimstone talk laced with blasphemous humor, and excoriated "namby pamby Christians" for not being even more brutal and intolerant. Gerry Dantone presented a program of Atheistic songs including "Kiss the Holy Butt," and the Philadelphia rock group Overlord performed energetic and frenetic sets which featured their hit "All My Idols."

Interesting ... a movement designed to promote seperation of church and state ... is anti religious in an overt manner. If I wish to exercise my First Amendment right to free speech, these folks wish to stamp it out - if I'm speaking about Christ.

Now, let's see here ... what country stamps out the right to freedom of Christianity out in public. Well, the communist nation of China. Yep. Oh yes, if you're caught being Christian or speaking Christian in Saudi Arabia, they simply just will kill you and your entire family.

Godless Americans ... a trojan horse for what they truly want: a Christless America.

I suppose you'd agree that would be something that would be great. Your left-minded soulmates in Mecca and Moscow would agree with you.

Yes - nonbelievers who agitate to elminate religious freedom for believers - yes, they are a new enemy.

As a nonbeliever, I advocate nothing more than that you keep your beliefs out of the laws we are all obliged to live under. Otherwise, your are free to practice any mythology you choose, with the proviso that you do no harm to another.

The most common Christian approach to nonbelievers used to be conversion. Deeming them enemies is strikingly Islamic.

I wrote that, then you wrote: "The most common Christian approach to nonbelievers used to be conversion. Deeming them enemies is strikingly Islamic."

Wow ... look at that great big piece of leftist bait, with leftist logic attached to it, just dangling there, wriggling .....

Should I? Naw. You're just fishing for new readers of your boring blog; I mean that's why your address to it is in your tag line, right?

...and, its boring, trust me. Here's a tip to prove it ... add a web counter. Oh, maybe you'd rather not have that kind of feedback.

Anyway, you are bored yourself I think. Otherwise you would be engaging on threads as opposed to your typical single bites, and posting the occasional bait like that above.

Fair warning ... I'm going to start ignoring your posts unless you demonstrate some imagination ....

Uhm, it has two.  You're going to like the internet once you get the hang of it.

This from a guy who can't recognize hit (not web) counters when he sees them, and thinks nonbelivers are enemies to Christians. I'm not impressed.
