PREDICTION FOR DEMOCRAT CONVENTION

I have a prediction for the upcoming democratic convention.
First, there has been some Bill-Clinton-for-VP talk.
This is what I predict:
That talk will grow.
Then, shortly before the Democratic convention, one of two things will happen -- or both: 1) Something really damaging in Kerrys past will come to light and/or 2) Conventional wisdom will be that Kerry simply is not electable.
Whereupon Hillary will step from behind the curtain to take the nomination for president, thereby giving us a Clinton/Clinton ticket.
Of course, Bill cannot be president again (if you hold to that old, dusty Constitution), but why would that stop them? The Consitution and laws never slowed them down before.
This may be way out, but I WOULD NOT be surprised....

I thought the case was closed on that one: Willy can't be VP, since he's the next in line if the president is knocked out of office. Right?

Boner Bill cannot be VP because he is otherwise unqualified to be president again.

I heard one old democrat say on the radio that was what was going to happen. Mrs. Clinton would be drafted. They did not mention about the VP.

Jerry, you've spent too much time reading Vince Foster stories.
Believe it or not, Kerry will be the nominee. He isn't going to get that close and be "kneecapped" by the Clintons. It isn't going to happen. With Theresa, he has more money than the Clintons, and, if you haven't noticed, they have been pushed to the back burner recently.
You may be right that there is talk of a Hillary Veep slot. I can't make a prediction on that.
However, regardless of whether she does or doesn't, HE THNKS HE CAN WIN and right now the (largely bogus) polls seem to confirm that.
I'd love to see Clinton destroy Kerry at the last minute, but I'm beginning to wonder if he has the power any longer. The Wes Clark thing didn't work too well.

If your name is Clinton you must be ready for anything. I can already hear Bill's take on succession: "If anything should happen to my dear wife, god forbid, the line of succession would simply skip over me and go to the Speaker of the House."

There won't be a draft if Kerry selects a VP before the convention, and I doubt he'll select Ankles.

Correct. The Constitution prevents someone unable to assume office of President to become VP. That's why a someone born outside of America (like Arnold) cannot be VP.

Amendment XXII to the Constitution --
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice...
...Bill could assume the Presidency from the office of VP since he wouldn't have been elected to the office of President. That's my take.

US Constitution, Article XXII, Section 1: "No person shall be
elected to the office of President more than twice..." This is really a stretch but if if Bill ran as VP to Hillary or anyone else and then that person resigned (or for some other reason stepped down or was unable to continue in office), then Bill Clinton could be president again without being elected.
Now that's scary. That gives me the willies just thinking about it.
And don't think for one moment that the Clintonistias haven't thought of it and looked for some way to make it happen.

You quoted the 22nd amendment... but forgot about the 12th, which says that no one otherwise ineligible to be elected the office of president may be elected vice-president.
To: Jerrybob
I think Kerry will be the nominee, and in an attempt to not be overshadowed by his VP choice, he'll choose someone like Evan Bayh.

I wouldn't put anything past Billdo, Shrillery and their puppet masters from hell.

Amendment XII to the Constitution:
But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

It's an interesting debate, looking at the various amendments to the Constitution regarding presidential eligibility. But have you noticed? -- conservatives are the only ones debating it. Since when have the Democrats been concerned about what the Constitution says?
