Rush says W's Legalize the Illegals is "Leadership" (85%vanity)

Posted on 01/08/2004 10:00:48 AM PST by Cubs Fan

I don't normally do vanities, but I'm listening to Rush right now. And if i hear him say again that legalizing the illegals is "leadership" on Bush's part again I think I may vomit.

Let's face it either Bush is a conservative who is so hopelessly insecure about the sellability of his beliefs and keeping his job that he casts aside his principles whenever he thinks its expedient (and that's quite often these days).

Or he never was a conservative to begin with.

There are now only two choices in our government: liberalism or liberlism lite.

Here's a hint, there's a little button on the radio labelled "On/Off" or "Off". Try hitting it, and that should help.

Why do people need to have their own beliefs validated by someone on the radio?

Rush knows how serious this is and fully comprehends the damage that Bush has done to himself regarding the conservative vote. He's trying to save the election. I've said it earlier that I think this could be W's "Read My Lips" moment with conservatives. Alot of people are completely po'd at the President...as much as they were at 41 after he raised taxes.

Remember '92? Perot really got traction before anyone, Rush included, realized how much 41 had hurt himself.

Uh sorry there Tom, but there really are more choices than just: listen, don't listen

Rather than than just turn off ideas I disagree with I prefer to challenge them.

Very Well said. And I expect abslutely right. Rush is probably mad too, he just knows if he dumps on Bush this could actually make a president dean.

I don't know what I will do election day yet, but right now I am mad as hell at being taken for granted.

I know how you feel. It's not just this it's the education Bill, CFR, Prescription drugs, Federalizing Airport Security and on and on. But I just keep reminding myself what Perot wrought.

Uh sorry there CF, but " I think I may vomit" isn't "challenging" ideas, it's whining.

Lucky you! I haven't publicly expressed my thoughts on this matter until your post. For what it's worth, I have mixed feelings about Bush's "amnesty" plan. I consider myself a far-right winger, but I've also seen the other side of this issue...our INS system has been so screwed up for so long that I have a hard time condemning anyone for going around the law in this instance.

My husband had an employee who had a false SS card. Came to the US as an 18-year-old with little prospects (duh) in Mexico. Had a lot of brain power and a lot of discipline. He worked his way up from a truck loader to being considered for manager of his own branch (and this is in a multi-billion $ company) . The company didn't discover his false SS number until after he was being considered for this management position. He had to be let go, after many months of paying lawyers to try to grease the wheels.

This man paid taxes on his wages, since he had withholding tax but never filed. He worked hard. He admitted that he made a mistake when he was young and foolish and didn't want to wait the seven or more years it would have taken him to get legal.

As born American citizens, we can get all righteous and claim that we would never break the law to immigrate. I'm not so sure that if it really came down it, as an 18-year-old who had drive and ambition but no hope, I would never consider cutting those corners to get done what I needed to get done.

My wish is that Bush would totally gut the INS and start over from scratch. Allow the illegals that are here and have PROVEN themselves to be 1) hard-working 2) not a social-services burden 3) law-abiding 4) willing to learn the language and assimilate themselves into our society...allow them to apply for citizenship and fast-track them through (since the INS has been gutted and reworked in my fantasy world, it might happen!).

Like I said at the beginning, lucky you!! (I don't expect you to want to reply to my musings!!!)

Hey Tom, Here's a hint, there's a little button on your mouse that can turn this thread "On" or "Off". Try hitting it, and that should help.

The worst part of it all is this coming election (IMO) will be all about the war on terror and the economy. these panders (that will damage this country for years to come)were unnecessary and may even backfire politically.

Well, it is leadership. Terribly bad leadership, though.

I listened to the first hour, and the take I got was Rush was pretty much against the plan. However, Rush was a little weak towards the end. He did allow Tancredo some good airtime.
