Arnold, The Incredible Hulk/Governor
8/17/03 | Rewbix Flash

Who will be next to lead the "land of the fruits and nuts"? Will it be "Da' Terminata'"? Actually, things are looking up for the body builder/movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger. He even has the President's support. Bush commented a few weeks ago on the subject saying that Scwarzenegger would make,"a good Governor." Schwarzenegger has detailed plans for solving California's innumerable problems. Unfortunately, many see this as a hopeless scheme being used to make Schwarzenegger look better. Nobody can really have faith in an actor. Amongst his competition, Schwarzenegger certainly stands out and has the best odds. His only real competiotion would be against the current Governor Davis. According to the law, the current Governor needs more than 50% of peoples support for a re-election. In other words, if Davis had 49% of peoples support, and if Schwarzenegger acquired more votes than the other candidates, even if it was only 5%, Scwarzenegger would win the election. Lucky for the candidates, Davis has an estimated 35% of the pulblic's support. Of course this statistic is only an estimate and the public's prefrence might start leaning away from sustaining Davis but it will still be an option. But no matter what the Public thinks, Arnold Schwarzenegger has always said that he, "was born to be a leader." (this statement is not from one of his movies.) CAN a movie star buckle down, get serious, and be a leader or would he destroy California (in a political sense)? I'll be back...

Lou Ferrigno was the Hulk, not Arnold.
Actually if you want to see some interesting and amusing interaction between the two, watch Pumping Iron.
Arnold's ambition and saavy is quite evident in the film, albeit green and raw.

Who will be next to lead the "land of the fruits and nuts"?

If conservatives would actually back a conservative, it would be Tom McClintock. Will it be "Da' Terminata'"?

Let's hope not.

Actually, things are looking up for the body builder/movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Specious bilge. His numbers have fallen dramatically in the last few days.

He even has the President's support.

Simply untrue. The President is sitting this one out.

Bush commented a few weeks ago on the subject saying that Scwarzenegger would make,"a good Governor."

Your timeline is a faulty as your other facts.

Schwarzenegger has detailed plans for solving California's innumerable problems.

Horse manure.

Unfortunately, many see this as a hopeless scheme being used to make Schwarzenegger look better.

Uhmm...'this' doesnt' exist.

Nobody can really have faith in an actor.

No thinking person cares that he's an actor. It's his leftwing politics that are the problem.

Amongst his competition, Schwarzenegger certainly stands out and has the best odds.

He stands out alright. As a liberal.

His only real competiotion would be against the current Governor Davis.

Davis is toast. Get your facts straight.

You are an incredible genius. Maybe you should have run for Governor.

"Schwarzenegger has detailed plans for solving California's innumerable problems.

Horse manure. "

The sad thing is, to most liberals, "Hi, mah name is Ahnuld" is more policy direction than most Rat's have put forward in ages...

2002: Arnold, Buffett meet with Rothschilds, other elites

Reuters, Sept. 24, 2002:
WADDESDON MANOR, England (Reuters) - The world's second-richest man dropped into the English countryside with the Terminator at his side on Monday, a day after warning the UK's corporate big game his elephant gun was loaded.

Billionaire Warren Buffett and mean machine Arnold Schwarzenegger touched down by helicopter on the immaculate lawns of Waddesdon manor, a Renaissance-style chateau in the undulating hills of Buckinghamshire.

Buffett, 72, is guest of honor at a closed two-day meeting of some of the world's most powerful businessmen and financiers -- the ultimate networking opportunity.

The get-together in the ancestral home of the Rothschild banking family will discuss economic and political issues
[...]
Among those invited to Waddesdon Manor were the likes of James Wolfensohn, president of the World Bank, Jorma Ollila, chief executive of Nokia and De Beers chairman Nicky Oppenheimer.
[...]
A group of photographers captured the moment when Buffett and Schwarzenegger, resplendent in steel-tipped cowboy boots, stepped onto Waddesdon's freshly cut lawn to be greeted by Lord Jacob Rothschild. . .

Hey There. Where do you get your Information? I would honest and truly like to know. I personally used Times Magazine and the CNN website for my info. If those are illegitimate sources, by all means give my something I CAN use to post off of. This is truly in the most sincerity to benefit all who are looking for proper information.

P.S. Schwarzenegger is going to win. Davis is out of it and theres no other candidates who have much of a chance. Do you live in CA?

>>>CAN a movie star buckle down, get serious, and be a leader or would he destroy California?

He has yet to give me any assurance that we will be better off.

From his news conference:

"No one ... could figure out or make heads or tails of the state budget. We don't know what is being spent and we don't know where. One thing I have learned in business is you can't make sound decisions with faulty information."
----
Mr. Schwarzenegger said he would not provide specifics on budget cuts during the campaign. "The public doesn't care about figures," he said.
----
If they can't make heads or tails of the data, how can he elude to it being 'faulty'? He says he's going to call for an 'audit'. So, now he thinks we have an ACCOUNTING problem as well as a SPENDING problem? God help us!

So far, I have yet to see any experts on 'Team Arnold' experienced in COST MANAGEMENT. Buffett will be real helpful if they try to float more bonds (the kiss of death, IMO). Hey... maybe we should just have Michael Milken on the team too, huh?

The bankers may be able to work some magic and fend off the creditors.... but that still leaves the state with a SPENDING problem.

The Real Estate developers? Ummmm.... well, they're real happy that Warren played bad guy so that Proposition 13 is intact. That sure seemed like a set up to me. I'm feeling REAL manipulated.

Arnold indicated that we need to legislate a 'spending cap'. Ummmm..... Arnie, I think we HAVE one... it was in the State constitution the last time I looked. It's called REVENUE. Simple concept: don't spend more than you take in.

The legislature is in denial.... and while Arnold's mail order business degree may have given him some education, I don't believe he has any clue how to oversee a $100 BILLION dollars of SPENDING.

If Arnold isn't willing to even CONSIDER Education for budget reductions, and holds true to his 'no tax increase' statement, he is going to have a real hard time reducing this deficit, especially given the cost of carrying the existing debt. We need some swift action to determine what cuts are feasible and tolerable, and get them implemented quickly before the bankruptcy vultures start to swarm. Hmmmmm... Reminscent of Orange County.... with many of the same folks in Arnold's shadow.

Message to Arnold.... I DO CARE ABOUT THE FIGURES. It's ALL about the figures. It's ALL about spending. It's almost crisis time... and you need to think about REDUCING programs, ELIMINATING programs, ELIMINATING redundancies. Nothing is sacred... it's a balance and prioritization process. Once you've done all that, a few years from now, THEN work on REFORM. Starting out with a "reform" objective is a failed approach from the get-go.

Okay... RANT off.... Sorry folks. Just got tired of screaming at the TV and the walls.

Did I answer the question Rewbix? :-;

Please save this and post it again and again and again and again! Your rebuttal to this thread, although I'm not from California, I do agree with.

Everyone is taking Arnolds 'no one cares about figures' statement to literally.
Pople do care about spending and figures but, can anyone(meaning typical Californians)tell me how much the state spends on education, infastructure, law enforcement, etc. without whipping out the 1500+ pg budget?
Arnold may not make cuts in dollars in education, but word in Sacramento (where I am based) is that he will urge cuts in the top-heavy administration in public education which will then allow for the money to trickle down to the schools where it is needed.
Arnold may not be as socially conservative as most of us in here would like, but the next Gov isn't going to outlaw abortion or legalize gay marriage anyway.
Our immediate problem is our FISCAL situation, once we get that in the hands of a 'conservative', mabey we can start to turn this screwed up state in the RIGHT direction.
So everyone please, don't take the risk of voting for Simon (whom I would like) or McClintock because we may very well be waking up on Oct8th with another liberal Gov and all our grassroots efforts will be for not.
