On Monday, a 63-year-old female mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint by two thugs while delivering mail in Dublin, California.
Surveillance video of the incident shows the carrier, who has worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years, delivering mail in a quiet residential neighborhood around 4:30 p.m. when suddenly a masked man emerges behind her.
A second masked individual follows closely behind.
Suddenly, a masked man comes up behind the mail carrier, followed by a second person who is also masked and the two masked men pull a gun.
KTVC reports:
“Somebody came up behind me and ‘boom,’ just hit me ,and put a gun to my head,” said the female postal carrier who asked not to be identified.”He said, ‘Give me your keys. You don’t want to die, do you?’ I go no, no, no. So I reached in, got my keys, and he goes, ‘Where’s your phone? You got two minutes’.”
The worker went to the mail truck to get her phone and handed it to the armed robber while fearing the worst.
She said,”On my god, I’m going to die.”
But the two men ran away after taking the keys to mailboxes and the truck, along with her cell phone.
She went to a neighbor for help in calling 911.
The USPS is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
The reason is to get the keys to these new postal box centers they are installing in neighborhoods. No door to door delivery any more. All postmen have a key and one key fits every box everywhere. Yes there is a standard skeleton key for all the boxes.
Call your congressman.
2020 was a bad year for postal thefts as well, coincidentally.
One more way liberal ‘elites’ give the shaft to everyday Americans. More billions for Ukraine I guess - they know how to ‘pay back’ our corrupt public servants.
Undocumented reparations.
I work for USPS, that key will only work on specific boxes, whether it’s 2 or 200, they will replace every lock that key fits. Just have to watch every box that uses that key until the locks are replaced. Some deliveries won’t be made until the lock is replaced. That’s what we have done when we’ve lost a key. Still it’s gonna be difficult to stop the theft of some boxes
This new approach apparently gives the creeps keys to everything, no prying needed.
Pretty scary.
Well that will be a lot of felonies. Apparently the USPS don’t mess around with that.
In the 1920s the US mail was getting robbed, Marines in pairs were sent to ride with the mail. Their standard orders:
“To the Men of the Mail Guard, you must when on guard duty, keep your weapons in hand and, if attacked, shoot and shoot to kill. If two Marines are covered by a robber, neither must put up his hands, but both must immediately go for their guns. One may die, but the other will get the robber, and the mail will get through. When our Corps goes in as guards over the mail, that mail must be delivered, or there must be a Marine dead at the post of duty. There can be no compromise.”

Postal Service needs to put one live rattlesnake in a random box. Don’t issue that box out to a customer. Put a sign on the box that one of them has a live rattler. In English… And Spanish.
And probably Ebonics.
Like any of our worthless pols are going to do anything about it.

Worked at the post office for ten years before retiring . I don’t remember this ever happening before , though I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. Even when I worked the projects the people there were usually very nice .
“Looks like Canada Post “Superboxes” have now spread to the United States.”
I’ve had one of the POS’s ever since moving to Phoenix 27 years ago - and I’m in a traditional neighborhood, not an apartment complex. I detest it.
“$150,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible”
I know, I know!
Gavin Newsome and every other demonrat politician in the state.
Now, where’s my $150k?
And not even with the courtesy of a rain shelter, obviously.
management will do anything to make service worse.
