we should be excited about removing ANY law or regulation.
Let the market place work it out. Govt should not be involved.
Anybody fined for this law in the last 20 years. THEN GET RID OF IT.
Won’t need ‘em anymore. These new illegal alien worker replacements can go all day without a break while carrying three toddlers on their hips.
PA did something similar. I know an older person who got fired for following the old rules and took a lunch break. All of the illegals who came here to work won’t care if they don’t get a break.
They were trying to pass something like this in Texas too?

Okay, I’m not a fan of regulation. If I worked for someone, I would not need a law to tell them I need a break. A decent person would not work an animal like that. And a law will not make anyone a decent person. Just because there’s a law preventing abuse does not make that employer a good person. I have worked for nasty people like this. No law was going to make the situation good. It is simply best to move on.
Would this apply to the legislature?
The title is misleading. It makes the bill sound to me like this is meant to benefit people who would prefer to work through breaks without being penalized, like both my husband and myself. His workplace in particular penalizes employees who would rather work through a break, but I get paid regardless of whether I break or work. He doesn’t. So, those in a position to make an extra 30 minutes’ worth of pay instead of a mandatory break will be able to do so if they choose.
Apparently, that’s not the case. They mean mandatory for employers to provide, not mandatory for employees to take.
If so, it’s a huge step back for worker’s rights. I sound like a commie, but people have to eat. At my last job, I was able to eat throughout the day while working, but not everyone has jobs which allow that. For instance, nurses and mechanics can’t just munch throughout the day.
