In my hospital's ‘’secure holding unit’’(psych ward) I've seen kids as young as ten who have inflicted serious harm on other children. In one instance there was a ten year old boy who nearly beat his sister to death because ''She wouldn't listen to me''. Thirty years ago when I first worked in hospitals I rarely ever saw a child that young in a mental health unit. Now it seems to be the norm. I once asked a nurse why this was. She said "Because of parents who've never learned to say NO''. I hope God takes me in the next few years, feel I'm half way there anyway. People aren't aware there's a bad moon rising in this nation. The next few years are going to be a nightmare.

While it's true benzodiazapines and opiates , unsupervised in withdrawal the most serious is alcohol which causes DTs. The stuff almost killed me.

Years ago in San Francisco airport I was waiting for a plane near the boarding area. A woman with a young child was trying to get on the flight and they were trying to figure out how responsive the child was to directions. They asked the woman, “When you say no to your child, does she understand?”
Her response was “Oh, I never say no to her. That’s wrong.” I heard it with my own ears. The boarding agent looked stunned. I don’t think she got that last two seats in the emergency exit aisle.

My mil was using Xanax, and seeing many doctors.
Last year one of her doctors doubled her dose(not the prescribing doctor).
2 weeks later she was hospitalized and the hospital took her off.
She went full blown psychotic, didn’t know where she was, who her kids and husband were, and was seeing and talking to dead people.
Took them 5 days, and a call to the prescribing doctor, to figure out what happened.
They put her back on her original dose, and everything was back to normal within 24 hours.
Xanax is dangerous.
Please be careful with it.

People do not seem to understand that they are creating neurotic children. There are a very few that are born that way and there little to be done but for the most part Hannah Arendt was right.

“Every generation, civilization is invaded by barbarians - we call them 'children'.”

But a number of parents do not want to civilize their little savages. "Oh they are perfect just the way they are." Oh no my friend, they are not.

It used to be you only found this attitude in areas that were poverty stricken with broken families and among the very wealthy. But now it is all over the place.

Sigmund Freude once said “Life is a corrupting process the moment a child learns to manipulate one parent against the other’’.

This is certainly true today and if a child's violent , insolent or aggressive behavior isn't changed by at least five years old than their pattern of behavior will more than likely be unchangeable and only get worse. I keep thinking back to that ten year old boy who almost killed his own sister. If his behavior is radically changed in ten years he'll be in jail for murder.
