You clearly understood the implications.
John, in his gospel, wrote Jesus’s words, when Jesus told of the three positions of God’s Spirit.
Para- the Holy Spirit is BESIDE/ALONGSIDE the unrepentant, calling them to the Father.
En- the Holy Spirit resides INSIDE the repentant.
Epi- the Holy Spirit comes UPON the repentant to do God’s holy works.
The unrepentant do not have God within them. They do have all the evidence of God’s existence within them, because God has made it plain to them, but God does not reside within them.
I didn’t use the words “believer”, or “unbeliever”.
The demons “believe” and they tremble!
As someone said in one of or our small group studies; “I was a believer for years, but then became a follower of Jesus”.
Jesus called His disciples with; “follow me”
He also defined “disciple”
“If anyone wishes to be my disciple, he must deny himself (flesh), pick up his cross (die to the world) and follow me.
