Senator Ron Wyden Asks AG Merrick Garland to Release Information About AT&T “Hemisphere” Dragnet Surveillance Agreement With U.S. Government

See link for letter...

(1) The Patriot Act turned the intel surveillance radar from foreign searches for terrorists to domestic searches for terrorists. (2) Obama/Biden then redefined what is a “terrorist” to include their political opposition.

In the era shortly after 9/11, the DC national security apparatus, instructed by Vice President Dick Cheney, was constructed to preserve continuity of government and simultaneously view all Americans as potential threats. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) were created specifically for this purpose.

After 9/11/01, the electronic surveillance system that was originally created to monitor threats from abroad was retooled to monitor threats inside our country. That is when all of our electronic ‘metadata’ came under federal surveillance.

That inflection point, and the process that followed, was exactly what Edward Snowden tried to point out.

What Barack Obama and Eric Holder did with that new construct was refine the internal targeting mechanisms so that only their political opposition became the target of this new national security system.

The problems we face now as a country are directly an outcome of two very distinct points that were merged by Barack Obama. (1) The post 9/11 monitoring of electronic communication of American citizens; and (2) Obama’s team creating a fine-tuning knob that it focused on the politics of the targets. This is very important to understand as you dig deeper

The left in this country is a huge problem, but Dead-eye Dick is the MF who put the deep state on steroids.

Do NOT give any credit whatsoever for whyden having posed the question (which accomplishes absolutely nothing).

The leftist absentee senator needs to catch an STD which causes his head to fall off.

This is not new. When I worked for AT&T it was openly known that down the hall behind the big, steel door were all the servers that copied all telecons.

ALL.

Nothing illegal. Since all telecons were digitized they have to be broken up into bits and thrown across the distribution system so that they can be collected and re-assembled in order just before you hear the words. That is how digitization has always worked. Analog was different.
So, in the midst of all that parceling out and distribution a copy of every bit is squirreled away. Just in case, y’know. :)

9/11 had nothing to do with it. Well, after 9/11 the Gov’mt paid for it, OK. But, it happened way before 9/11.

I agree, give Wyden no credit for this stunt, after all these years. He knew about it from the very first.

However, I do give Waden credit for helping his constituents, since I am one of them.

My nephew’s widow has been trying to immigrate from Thailand to be with her now 10-year old daughter for two years. The State Department has been non-responsive. Three weeks ago she received an email telling her that her application was denied.

I called Wyden’s office for help, and they told me to have her send them an email with details about her case. Five days later she received an email from the embassy in Bangkok telling her to schedule an immigration interview.

So I will give Sen Wyden credit for doing his job, at least in regard to his constituents. Of course, I’ve always voted against him.

To be clear, you benefited not from whyden, but from his staff.

Heartening to see one tiny part of government doing its job…

If it can be done it will be done, perhaps we are told about it. Perhaps we will be told it is ended. It will not be ended regardless of new laws or declarations.
