I think the fact that we have “hate” crimes rather than just “crimes” has distorted the justice system. Take the hypothetical situation where there’s a law against cruelty to animals. But doing X cruelty to dogs becomes a separate established law. What that does in essence is legalize X cruelty against, say cats or squirrels. This law was done to grab a headline and pander to the dog owner demographic. But it damaged all the other demographics.
Now we have “hate” crimes. Whatever they are against, their impact means that the same crime by a hate-protected class against a non-protected class is no longer a crime. Because only hate crimes have value. Thus, car jackings by protected classes against non-protected classes are excused.
We need a justice system that protects everyone equally. I think that was the goal and we, for a while, were there. But politics reared its ugly head and the system has been perverted. (Of course, we all know that the justice system was never intended to prosecute protected politicians or movie starts. Thus, Michael Jackson and Joe Biden can do all sorts of depraved things, and nothing will be prosecuted. But outside of those special cases we the people were generally protected against each other. No more.)
And I love a lot of things.......
I'd love to see more people in jail and the death penalty enforced...quickly. Just one example.
I love our country, but it isn't the Country I used to know.......
