I still find the whole [DeSantis] charade as a presidential candidate quite baffling. For a guy who had generated so much publicity and exposure for himself, his whole campaign was shockingly amateurish.

You're right, Alberta's Child. In fact, it's frightful because here is a man who proposes to be leader of the Free World. DeSantis is very dangerous to our Republic.

On the face of it, his support for conservative legislation in red Florida is commendable. But look at the incessant lies DeSantis has spoken in the last few months.

Talk of 2020 election fraud is a myth;
Trump failed at border security;
Trump supporters are "listless vessels" i.e. mind-numbed robots.
Trump deserves no credit for fighting the Deep State.

When you read these things, you wonder what country DeSantis lives in. How can he ignore Trump's magnificent work at raising the public's awareness and attacking the massive fraud and corruption being perpetrated on We the People by the D.C. establishment?

Experts need to psychologically analyze the man because he's quite delusional: "holding false beliefs or judgments about external reality that are held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary."

One particular fetish I notice is regarding his military service in the JAG Corp and former naval officer. It's manifested in a few ways:

His Overplay of Iraq Veteran Staus -- Yes, DeSantis served in Iraq for about six months as a Navy JAG Corps officer, a lawyer charged with overseeing the managing of Iraqi prisoners. He worked for the Navy Seal commander in charge of operations in one Iraq city, but DeSantis himself was not a Seal. Even still, DeSantis circulates a photo of himself in full desert cammie uniform holding a rifle.
DeSantis also plays up being awarded the Bronze Star. Now the rules for awarding a Bronze Star have changed. It used to be awarded only for great valor in combat. And even today, the "V" device on a Bronze Star ribbon means the same thing. But these days, a plain bronze medal (without the "V") is ALSO widely awarded as a kind of "meritorious service" medal for both civilians and military serving in a theater of war. The actual reason DeSantis was awarded the plain Bronze Star is being kept under wraps.
A Tom Cruise Fetish? -- Remember the movie, A Few Good Men, where Tom Cruise played a Navy JAG Corps officer with a murder plot based on events in Gitmo, the POW camp in US Naval Base, Guatanamo Bay, Cuba? Well, in real life, DeSantis coincidentally served as a JAG Corps officer at Gitmo. I suppose DeSantis strongly identified with Cruise and recently posted a YouTube video called Top Gov where DeSantis acts as a Navy jet pilot like Cruise's Maverick character -- quite a stretch of imagination, hubris, and lack of tact to put out an ad like that.
Naval Ship Commander -- When he called MAGA supporters "listless vessel" that arcane phrase is of nautical origin. Perhaps DeSantis imagines himself the captain of the British vessel in the movie Master and Commander starring Russell Crowe. His face bears a slight resemblance to Crowe. I wouldn't be surprised that DeSantis fancies this movie and believes he's a kind of heroic naval hero.

Of course, this discussion may soon become mute because DeSantis is being torpedoed by MAGA supporters on FR and elsewhere.

DeSantis' campaign is already LISTING dangerously to port. Donors are abandoning ship. The campaign crew is getting smaller and smaller. Today it operates in only one state now: Iowa.

It won't be very long before DeSantis lowers the lifeboat for himself and takes home the MegaBucks in Donor contributions as his campaign vessel dips below the waves and descends to Davy Jones's Locker.

When the U.S. government began putting lawyers in battle zones, in order to instruct our troops on the Rules of Engagement, so they wouldn't offend their enemies on the battlefield, that was the day that the United States lost the ability to ever win another war, by any means necessary. I wonder if President Harry S. Truman spoke to a bunch of lawyers before he dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
