Destantis has been pushed and “Created” since the start... that much has been obvious... there is no, and never has been any major organic support... Which is why the constant pushing of him by the establishment fails so spectacularly every time any real live interaction happens and they try to show he has major support...

This is still the most spectacular example, not a SINGLE PERSON named Desantis, not one, IN FLORIDA, until the media stooge pushed his name, then folks were like yea, I guess..

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/foxs-brian-kilmeade-has-to-search-diner-to-find-a-single-desantis-supporter-and-even-shes-on-the-fence/

And this was way way back in February, when Desantis, while declining, was still standing fairly good in the “polling”.

Biden does this all the time, and his “influencers” are probably a lot stupider than these.

Even before the internet, politicians courted influential journalists, editors, and publishers.

What’s the problem?

His ego is large, but his successes have been too.

A small ego would have withered and died under the deep state assault long ago.

Can't have it both ways. Somebody strong enough to do battle under insurmountable odds and win is not going to have a small ego.

Yes. I agree.

He is unique, he is not a politician he is a developer and a builder.

The typical DC Bureaucrap cannot imagine how things fit together, they are too busy contemplating their naval and wondering how they can use their position to enrich them.

80% of Congress has a “For Sale to Highest Bidder” written all over them. (Yes, my number might understate the problem)

There was a time when the Federal Courts, the Military and the Federal Banking system were relatively honest. Long gone now.

It is TIME to #Restore_the_Constitution!.

It is TIME to #DownSize_DC!

#Freedom_Works! DC does NOT.

Thanks for the ping to your post! You make many excellent points. DeSantis himself is a "listless vessel." He's on a rudderless boat, and can't seem to get out of port.

When the U.S. government began putting lawyers in battle zones, in order to instruct our troops on the Rules of Engagement, so they wouldn't offend their enemies on the battlefield, that was the day that the United States lost the ability to ever win another war, by any means necessary. I wonder if President Harry S. Truman spoke to a bunch of lawyers before he dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I never thought of it that way before, V K. But I think you’re onto something. Definitely, both these guys here voices from the past and twist them into bizarre stories.

The spread between Trump and the rest of the pack is HUGE... don’t believe any of his opponents will... threaten him. No matter how much the Big Money and Big Media spin it.

* * *

I agree. The politically savvy would certainly have known this fact many months ago, long before DeSantis announced.

Alas, the Big Money and Big Media still see great value in spending money to damage Trump’s reputation and record to have an impact on the general election.

On the positive side, the tussle with DeSantis has raised the stakes and alerted MAGA supporters to the deceit of Trump’s opponents. Combine that with Biden’s utter failure as President and you have a winning formula if we keep the pressure on.

Texas Fossil, this is as clear and plain-spoken critique of politicians as you'll find anywhere -- right down to mispelling the word "navel" :- )

For a longer definition of "politician", I refer you to a stupendous 1935 H. L. Mencken piece I made a vanity out of:

Here's Menken's opening paragraph:

Something Necessary to Understand About Washington DC (Sep 29, 2023)

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/09/29/something-necessary-to-understand-about-washington-dc/#more-251365

The people you think can fix this stuff  have no idea how much you know.  Additionally, it becomes destabilizing and unnerving for them to accept your level of information and understanding.

Another key and important element, beyond the knowledge, intellect, wisdom and discernment level… YOU care more about it than they do.  The stuff that you know, the stuff that you yearn for them to address and fix, is more important to you than it is to them.

Why am I telling you this?

Because we all need to change your reference points when communicating with them.  We need to confront their condescension early in our contact.  We need to be deliberate, direct, and brutally honest in our delivery.

When we write to them, articulate the arguments.  When we talk to them, pull them into the weeds of the issues and force them to see that our grasp of the topic far exceeds their ability to bullshit their way around the issue.

Being courteous, respectful and considerate for their role, does not mean you have to dumb yourself down or consider yourself subservient to their view.

I guarantee you two things.  First, that you know the material better than they do. Second, I absolutely guarantee that you care more than they do.  What that latter element says about the challenge is for another discussion, but these key points need to be emphasized.

The NYT loves to make fun of us and divide us.

That does not mean they read the truth and think that everyone sees it like they do. Nobody sees it like they do. Because what they think is reality is a Big Lie.

So, yes they are trying to divide us. But in this case, what they are talking about it true.

[Desantis] is on a rudderless boat, and can't seem to get out of port...

* * * *

Well said, mass55th! And there's no wind to fill the sails either...

You're right about sending lawyers into battle zones, too. It sends the wrong message.

On the subject of the American bombing of Japan, you'll recall from an earlier post that my Dad was the senior gunner's mate on an LST at the Battle of Okinawa.

I'm glad that the atomic bombs helped end the war and enabled my Dad to return home, marry my mother, and start a family.

And ironically is that I came to Japan in the early 80's as a Navy lieutenant and stationed for 3 years at the naval base in Sasebo (Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan). And it's here that I met my Japanese wife and returned to the US to live with her for 41 years.

And the final irony is that my wife (who had since become an American citizen) decided to immigrate to Japan and retire there. And she had to write, fill out, and pull together all sorts of documents, photographs, and testimonies to gain receive approval to become a permanent resident of Japan for a few years.

One sticking point we were concerned about is that my wife was actually born to a ethnic Korean father (and Japanese mother), so it might be hard to get approval.

But it turns out that Sasebo city was a big Japanese naval facility during the war so American planes occasionally dropped some firebombs on Sasebo before the war ended.

Well, when we inquired at the Sasebo city office about getting hold of my wife's Dad's birth records, it turns out those records -- and those of many thousands of Sasebo citizens -- were lost due to the fires caused by the American bombing.

So this is a roundabout way of saying life is strange.

And we got approval last year to come to Japan and we are living in a mid-sized city north of Tokyo where my wife and I play pickleball with the locals and are having good fun with our many adopted sisters and brothers.

Thanks, Texas Fossil. I read this commentary from Sundance and it’s a wonderful piece to remember.

It’s worth remembering when you have a chance to talk to Reps, Senators, and other people running for public office. You know more than they do... and understanding how to take advantage of that.

I looked and found that story was not posted on Free Republic, so that’s something worth doing.

* * * *

"Organic support" is a great wrapper description for what I tried to say in a post just a few days ago. To people outside Florida and FReepers, DeSantis has never been a known NAME — the exact opposite of Trump.

...Trump's powerful NAME RECOGNITION and BRANDING as a celebrity and business genius is awesome, but is still not sufficient by itself.

Trump has also made a mammoth INVESTMENT in being leader of our Free Republic. Think of the countless media interviews he's done, the hundreds of rallies he's held.

And as President, he accomplished great things against powerful political and corrupt forces. He gained his much deserved reputation for delivering on his promises.

And to accomplish all this, Trump applied his WISDOM and put in the SOLID, RELENTLESS WORK he needed to reach the amazing GRASSROOTS support he has today.

So when you look at the LONG VIEW of how Trump got to where he is, it's no surprise that his popular support towers over his lilliputian rivals.

I considered posting it the day I read it. At various times in the past 40 years I have written letters to or had telephone conversations with politicians about various subjects.

Sundance is correct, about people affected by a problem better understanding the issues related.

Understanding the issues and the connections “out in the weeds” are powerful when you make those contacts.

Twitter is also a place where you can impact issues. I personally know a number of political figures who actually write some of their own Twitter comments and read the responses.

Twitter is dying a slow death. Spam is out of control. Musk is going to take a huge loss on his investment. Maybe that was his intention.

I’ve been on Twitter 14 years. I’ve seen it’s ups and downs.

Musk did not buy twitter to stand by itself. He is planning to tie it to other services to make a one stop for info and other services.

Don’t write him off.

I accept him with caution. He is and incredible engineer.
