It’s pretty quiet now. We haven’t lost surveillance aircraft for some time.
I know. I was there and saw some of these things. That said, we never had any Soviet aircraft “buzz” our carrier within eyeshot, though they did launch off the ready CAT occasionally, and when crossing the Atlantic, ALWAYS had a Tomcat with two Phoenix, two Sparrow, and two Sidewinder armed and tied down on the ready CAT.
Don’t know how close the Chicoms or the Russians get today.
