Was a National Digital ID Imposed While Nobody was Watching?

MRCTV's Garner Goldsmith made an interesting 8-minute video, DHS Uses Your Taxes To Kick Off What Looks Like a Federal Digital ID System. Here is a quick summary below the video:

Imagine living in a neighborhood run by the mob. Imagine that the illegitimate “rulers” already have claimed the power to search you at certain locations where you might want to do business, that they spy on you, and they make YOU pay for it, claiming it’s “for your protection.”

Now, imagine that same mafia telling you that they are going to replace all your door locks with locks of their choosing – for your protection, of course. That’s essentially what the Department of Homeland Security - via some of its lesser-known, tax-funded vassals - recently hinted is in its plans for all of us if we don’t stop them ASAP.

I watched the video Wednesday morning, and while I ran some lunchtime errands I wondered if it hadn't already happened. I know that by 2025 the TSA has mandated that all flyers must have a Real ID. I don't think that my license is, but it does have one of those crazy-looking black bars of jumbles on the back that looks like a cross between a QR code and a retail bar code. I've seen it used for scanning when going to the airport, where the Colonoscopy Agent working Security would scan my license. It seemed a bit... off, for lack of a better term, but I've sadly gotten so numb to what passes for Security at airports that I didn't give it too much thought. Yesterday I did.

First, I had to make a shipment at FedEx, and the polite, friendly clerk scanned the back of my license to load my address into his system. Wait, what? My next stop involved grabbing some beer as part of my grocery store run, and instead of the checkout clerk just looking at my license or at my face (sadly, my boyish good looks that got me carded consistently until my mid-30s are long gone), he asked for my license and scanned it into the cash register. Wait, what? Why are two private businesses given access to whatever info that Motor Vehicles has stored on me? And what's next? Will any other data markers be attached to my license? And will that info be used for any other social engineering? Will I one day find myself being told I've bought too much beer for the month, or that all of the meat I'm buying is hitting my Climastrology threat threshold? Or will our medical history get cross-referenced, and might not have the Fauci Flu Clot Shot preclude anyone from buying food reserved for loyal Branch Covidians?

Or am I just being paranoid?

Do not let grocery stores or anyone except tsa/law enforcement scan your ID.

There is no reason for anyone else to have all the information contained there

I hand them my passport card. That way, I won’t misplace my license.

I put tape over my driver’s license barcode after the first time some cashier scanned it. So far no one has objected, though a couple of times I’ve been asked why I taped it.

As for legitimate scanning, I never fly anywhere, and I haven’t been stopped by law enforcement for quite a few years. If I do get stopped, they can peel off the tape, I suppose.

"Real ID" is necessary, especially if we are to root out illegal aliens and deport them. It is a simple way to validate citizenship.

And rooting out fake IDs for transactions, maybe helpful, also easier than asking clerks to calculate birth date to buy alcohol and drugs.

Okay, tell me, what is in the code on back that is not on the front of the ID already?

Or am I just being paranoid?

"FloppingAces" is not being paranoid enough.

Major banks and credit card companies already have enough detailed information on our purchases to do everything suggested in that article. And there are serious proposals from the government to do things like that. The financial institutions will fall over themselves "voluntarily" offering the necessary data to the government.

They already sell related data to marketing companies, so it is no big deal for them to give it to the government.

A bit difficult to implement controls at the retail level, but easy to levy fines and surtaxes and garnishments of wages against the accounts of people who have exceeded some profile of allowable purchases or activities.

Did not get the latest "jab"? That is a $5,000 surcharge on your income tax.

Bought too much of some controlled merchandise or supplies for the month? That is a $1,000 fine levied on your bank account.

Attended a political protest against the regime? Or were simply in the vicinity of that event? That is a $1,000 fine garnished from your paycheck - which will probably get you fired.

Many states require scanning to buy alcohol and drugs. I have no problem with scanning, the data is the same as on the front of the ID. The problem is, and this is not tied with scanning, is what they do with the information beyond that immediate check. Do they store it? When a clerk looks at your ID, they might be required to key in some of that data anyway. So, no different. The challenge is what do they do with that data? None of it is a secret, not already stored elsewhere, so no big deal. What it does do is connect me to an action or purchase, maybe patterns can be tracked, but I’m not out plotting a bombing or terrorist action so nothing to hide. I’m not paranoid about what people see I do, spend money on, etc.

I have a passport card and use that for just about all ID transactions. There is a large number of “missing” details that are provided in the drivers license.
