A lot of people liked this guy's music. But he was not a Zip-a-Dee -Doo-Dah kind of guy. He was a bit on the melancholy side of life. Not really my taste. May he rest in peace.

His song topics ranged from the sweet sentiments of childhood dreams ( Pony Man) to the harsh horrors of war ( Echoes of Heroes, and race riots (Black Day in July). His love songs generally were about losing it, but he had a few positive ones(cotton jenny, fine as fine can be, I’ll prove my love, Beautiful, If you need me). He had songs about Canada growth(Canadian railroad trilogy,
Crossroads)....I would recommend you check ‘em out.
His songs run the gamut of human experiences. Very impressive body of work. Good luck finding those songs.

He has, IMHO, a few songs I don’t like too much....but very few...
