As we reported on Sunday, the Trump indictment that has been reported wasn’t quite a done deal yet, as there was one more witness they had to hear from on Monday – Robert Costello. Costello is the former legal adviser for Michael Cohen. Cohen is one of the two key witnesses in the case, along with Stormy Daniels. Both have serious credibility issues.
Costello’s testimony further decimated any case that the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg may have thought he ever had.
🚨BREAKING: Michael Cohen's former legal advisor Robert Costello, who appeared before the Trump grand jury today calls Cohen a “convicted perjurer” and says he “is far from solid evidence”
— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) March 20, 2023
Costello said that Michael Cohen has “far from solid evidence.” Costello said he used to be Deputy Chief in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, so he would know. Costello said he “never would have touched a guy” like Cohen (as a witness) because he was a convicted perjurer. Not to mention all the other lies that he told them that are in the emails that were being discussed, Costello said.
Costello ripped Cohen as a liar.
“There can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Michael Cohen has great difficulty telling the truth,” Costello said. “He is, after all a convicted perjurer, and our track record with Mr. Cohen convinced us that he was a serial liar.”
Costello said that the prosecution wanted to ask him limited questions about six emails but that he managed to force the fact that Cohen said he hadn’t told Trump he made the payments to Stormy Daniels into an answer, presumably because the prosecution didn’t want the grand jury to hear it. But it sounds like he did get it in there.
Costello also told Tucker Carlson what Michael Cohen said about doing anything he had to, to stay out of jail.

He explained Cohen said he hadn’t waived the attorney-client privilege. Costello then pulled out his waiver and said, “Is this the kind of witness you want to ride to the finish line?” just completely doing Cohen in.
Trump not knowing about the payment is one more thing that should end this case if this wasn’t a completely political effort. It’s one of the reasons it never should have been pursued, to begin with. So we’ll have to see if the New York bias and the DA’s persuasion prevail, or whether the truth wins out. Costello did say that some of the members of the grand jury seemed to be getting it and as a former Deputy Chief he might have some experience to assess that. But it’s clear, given what Costello said, that Bragg’s office isn’t particularly interested in showing the truth to the grand jury.
As we’ve reported, this is just the latest problem in the case. As federal prosecutors and the FEC, both had previously declined to pursue any actions against Trump. Even Bragg when he first came into office had refused to proceed. We only see the case now that we’re approaching 2024 with Trump as a declared candidate. Given all the problems in the case, it’s clear that it’s just a shameful political effort to try to do in Trump. They’re trying to throw everything they can at him to try to incapacitate him
Tbis time!
This is all great news, and in a non-banana republic, would do as the title suggests, and torpedo this BS case. But, they want BLOOD, and refuse to give in that easily. I would expect someone to show up tomorrow with pictures of Costello and little boys or something in an attempt to discredit his descrediting.
Replies like that will get you accused of calling costello a homo on this site. Lol
“...Bragg’s office isn’t particularly interested in showing the truth to the grand jury.”
I don’t think much of Bragg, but this is pretty typical for DA’s and grand juries. It’s a one sided affair and that’s how they use it.
Bragg is thru in two. Then comes his trials, disbarment and jail.
Now that will be something to BRAG about!!!
The indictment will go forward. This is not about getting a conviction, this is about damaging Trump.
I just watched Costello on the replay of Tucker’s show. He was very thorough and believable. I see no way for a Grand Jury to indict after hearing his testimony.
It would in a normal rational society.
The fact that Cohen made the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels without Trump knowing about it is what was said way back on the eve of the 2016 election. Cohen responded to the New York Times on February 13 that he paid Daniels the $130,000 from his own pocket, not as a campaign contribution, and that neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign reimbursed him for making it. The reason that the campaign hadn't reimbursed Cohen was that Trump was unaware that it happened. If Trump was unaware that it happened, he is not liable for making the payment.
Cohen will now claim that Trump was aware of the $130,000 payoff. It will be a case of Trump's word against Cohen's. Cohen's track record of making false statements to a federally insured bank and lying to Congress under the federal false-statements statute should disqualify his testimony as a trustworthy witness.
Cohen will now claim that Trump was aware of the $130,000 payoff. It will be a case of Trump’s word against Cohen’s.
********
Suppose Trump was aware of the payoff. How can he Constitutionally be denied the right to benefit from a payment that would protect him from a baseless charge just because he is running for office? Suppose I paid off Stormy just because I admired Trump. Would my helping Trump in any way when he was running for office be illegal?
So how much of what he said on Tuckers show did he get to say in the grand jury hearing? Sounded like he didn’t get a lot in,but he was in there for two hours
Costello’s testimony further decimated any case that the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg may have thought he ever had.
Every time the democrats go after Trump their stupidity and dangerous sign gets brighter.
WE know who they fear the most it’s why we need to support him.
MAGA
“That” is the entire foundation of this crooked persecuter’s case: He (on behalf the State Attorney General and entire democrat party!) is claiming that - because Trump was running for office, any adverse publicity would be bad, and so any effort to reduce adverse publicity would be “good for the campaign, and so any effort to reduce adverse publicity IN ANY MANNER is a “campaign contribution”. Therefore, “Yes” you would be in violation of the campaign funding laws by paying off anybody -regardless of whether Trump knew about it or not!
Now, about that illegal money and monstrous Russian-Russian collusion campaign that the national press and FBI ran on behalf of Biden that was worth billions of bad publicity and continuing bad press, “that” was nothing. And must be ignored. “It” was NOT a contribution to Biden's campaign.
But indictment for what?!
And that’s funny because this isn’t eve about the Stormy daniels thing.
It’s about trump exxagerating his assets. Or his people doing that.... The problem they are having is proving that he even knew about it. At least that’s my understanding.
Doesn’t matter to Bragg
I’m asking what you are referring to.
You’re mentioned an indictment. Do you know what it’s for?
Trump will appeal any conviction and likely win on appeal as these cases are all persecutions and not prosecutions.
The only roadblock could be this: Biden cuts a deal with RINO's, You leave Hunter alone and we will leave Trump alone.
I just learned that payoffs for non-disclosure agreements are not a crime. In this case, the Dems calling it a campaign donation are living an illusion.
