Why the world needs Ukrainian victory
Thinking About ^ | 1/23/23 | Timothy Snyder

Posted on 01/24/2023 1:50:07 AM PST by Sunsong

"Why does the world need a Ukrainian victory?

1. To halt atrocity. Russia's occupation is genocidal. Wherever the Ukrainians recover territory, they save lives, and re-establish the principle that people have a right not to be tortured, deported, and murdered.

2. To preserve the international legal order. Its basis is that one country may not invade another and annex its territory, as Russia seeks to do. Russia's war of aggression is obviously illegal, but the legal order does not defend itself.

3. To end an era of empire. This could be the last war fought on the colonial logic that another state and people do not exist. But this turning point is reached only if Russia loses.

4. To defend the peace project of the European Union. Russia's war is not directed only against Ukraine, but against the larger idea that European states can peacefully cooperate. If empire prevails, integration fails.

5. To give the rule of law a chance in Russia. So long as Russia fights imperial wars, it is trapped in repressive domestic politics. Coming generations of Russians could live better and freer lives, but only if Russia loses this war.

6. To weaken the prestige of tyrants. In this century, the trend has been towards authoritarianism, with Putinism as a force and a model. Its defeat by a democracy reverses that trend. Fascism is about force, and is discredited by defeat.

7. To remind us that democracy is the better system. Ukrainians have internalized the idea that they choose their own leaders. In taking risks to protect their democracy, they remind us that we all must act to protect ours..."

The world needs a Ukrainian vicory so that the American taxpayers can continue to be used as a mined resource for international conflicts in the future!!

A loss would show that America doesn’t have to stick their nose and credit card in every war on the planet, because the American public will no longer guarantee support!!

Especially in countries where American politicians are using their corruption to siphon off monies for their kids to work as BS, overpaid, unqualified corporate board members of the type of companies which those same politicians rail against in the American press as evil fossil fuel, climate-change causing killers of the planet!!

We are paying to keep the war going to hide the ongoing corruption of dozens, if not hundreds, of world political leaders...the loss of lives and territory to those New World Order wannabes don’t mean spit!!

We have given 5% of our DEFENSE Budget. As Snyder has pointed out that amounts to a ‘rounding error’

if putin succeeds in taking Ukraine, he won’t stop there...

It was a funny sketch. Something that could have been in the SNL when it was still funny.

Nowadays it would be the libs who’d cancel it and call it “toxic masculinity” or something when it is just being cocky and funny.

Same with this other sketch that is attacked. It’s like Weird Al Yankovich and his parody “Which backstreet boy is gay”. That sketch was originally attacked as “homophobic” by the “I’m offended” crowd, but Ukrainians don’t care about that sort of thing and just had a laugh.

Ok, LBJ. We all know about your domino theory.

Mean while, we are wasting money America doesn’t have, even if it’s only 5%...that is 5 percent we had to borrow to give away...to cover up the ongoing corruption for American politicians!

My great-granchildren will be paying interest on the debt these idiots borrowed to hide their stupidity and line their pockets.

Let Europe handle their own stupidity for awhile. American taxpayers have paid enough money over the last 100 years for their internal conflicts.

Sure...and that’s why Biden wanted the prosecutor fired from investigating Burisma too.

I’m starting to think you ARE that idiot George W. Bush...not just a devoted disciple of his!

Title of the article " Why the world needs an Ukrainian victory"

NoseWanking Too bad it is not going to happen.

Facts on the ground

like at Kharkiv where the Ukrainians won back 8,000 square kilometres

And the Ukrainian victory at Kherson Where the Ukrainians won back 1,200 sq kilometers from the Russians/b>

So totally, since May 2022 the Ukrainians have won back about 10,000 square kilometers or Half the size of New Jersey

The Russkis won back 5 square miles at Soledar on the backs of 10s of 1000s of Russkis dead...

Time to start being nice to Putin and then he is going to stop. It is clear that he is not going to tolerate cesspools of belligerence on his border.

Have you seen this? RT, the *official* State media head warns us:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcqX7PZUu5w&t=2s

in an earlier version she essentially said: “either we get Ukraine or we’ll destroy the world”

Note that the direct benefits to the USA are

1. The USA prevents a larger war in which US troops may get wounded or killed.

2. By preventing this, the USA also saves money — $60 billion in surplus weaponry is far lower than if the US military was directly involved.

3. The US also saves markets that buy US products

4. This war is an eye-opener to Xi Jinping — he is not going to launch any military attack on Taiwan anytime in this decade. I expect he will shift to economic and diplomatic attacks.

5. This also sends a message to anyone trying to conquer territory == the message is “don’t”

6. the US alliance is strengthened — I live in Poland and recently visited Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and the approval rating of the USA is going sky-high. The Poles always knew and now the Western Europeans realize again that the USA is indispensable.

Nosewanking “you guys have no idea what warfare is”

Russia losing thousands of sq km

Russia losing tens of thousands of soldiers

Russia losing hundreds of tanks, a naval flagship etc.

Russia losing the military weapons business as potential buyers see how useless Russian equipment is.

Russia losing because of Putin.

And you say “you guys have no idea what warfare is”

Is your, Russian, idea of warfare to constantly lose land, men, equipment, future and present markets and allies?
