They blamed Reagan for that recession. It was the result of the run-away inflation of the late 70s and the actions of the Federal Reserve to combat it. I remember around 1984 I started seeing the first ‘help wanted; signs I had ever seen in my adult life, popping up all over... so Reaganomics did work after all...

Eerily similar to today and the recession we see coming. Trump will ride in to save the country, just like Reagan.

Great Lakes bulk carriers are now required to carry survial suits for each crew member. They would have been of little use on the Fitzgerald. The ship sank in a matter of seconds.

I know from personal experience on “Lakers” that it takes somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute to put them on.
Part of fire and boat drills now include putting on the suits.

Saw GL earlier this year at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville PA. Still a great voice for an 84-year old man.

An aside: the Colonial Theater is where the classic 1958 sci-fi flick 'The Blob' was filmed.

I think he still looks good, especially for someone his age.

(Lightfoot is an old English name, and I doubt he has any Indian heritage - but the older he gets the more he looks like an old Indian.)
