No, it isn't. Since Prohibition was passed by Constitutional Amendment, which required all sorts of majorities, by your reasoning working against Prohibition was fringe in 1920.
It certainly was fringe to work for boys using the girls bathrooms. But yesterday's fringe is today's Orthodoxy.
What you call the fringe is RIGHT? Does that even matter?

Boys in Girls bathrooms is not a consensus position. Neither is abortion bans. The job of politians is to represent their constituents, not to build their resumes at the expense of the taxpayers.
