A Twitter engineering manager reportedly vomited into a trash can after being told to fire hundreds of people by one of Elon Musk’s advisers.
The revelation came in a lengthy article from the New York Times on Musk’s first weeks as the owner of Twitter.
"The fallout has often been excruciating, according to 36 current and former Twitter employees and people close to the company, as well as internal documents and workplace chat logs,” the Times report says. “Some top executives were summarily fired by email. One engineering manager, upon being told to cut hundreds of workers, vomited into a trash can. Others slept in the office as they worked grueling schedules to meet Mr. Musk’s orders.”
The article later reiterates, “one engineering manager was approached by Mr. Musk’s advisers — or ‘goons,’ as Twitter employees called them — with a list of hundreds of people he had to let go. He vomited into a trash can near his feet.”

I halfway believe this. I’ve known two very good men who were tasked to wiping out hundreds of jobs.
Because they are not sociopaths, they were in agony. Sleeplessness, vomiting, headaches, depression, just extreme unhappiness as they for months had to analyze who had to go (sometimes their best, but in departments they were dripping or parts of teams that were obsolete). Save Pete, ax Paul. Some were men they had recruited and worked with. Many were top notch employees. Transfer them if you can- but then you have to get rid of others…
It’s miserable and the responsibility weighs heavy. They both said it was no problem getting rid of the difficult or underperforming.
Senior Nazi officials probably reacted that way when the Red Army reached the outskirts of Berlin and they knew the game was up. These guys shouldn’t worry, though - Steiner will save them.
If only “chainsaw” Al Dunlop was still available for Elon to hire...

What a loser snowflake. I know 10 year old girls tougher than that.
They were insulated from reality, unlike every other US industrial company. Layoffs and restructuring and cost-cutting are a regular feature of life in a business.

I read a post on Tweater from a guy who worked at FarceBook for the first decade or so.
He said you could run Tweater with 200 people.
Maybe the stories are true about today’s young arugula sniffing, wimpy, tight suited metrosexuals being cowards.
Most women delay or refuse marriage far longer than earlier decades. Good taste.
