I used to commute by plane from Cherry Ridge Airport in the Poconos to White Plains NY every day. In really low ceilings or icing I would drive 3 hours each way. The subject of commute was brought up by the mortgage bank. That was in 1987. They were satisfied with the answer. To them the big compliance issue was to prove it was my primary residence.

The commute eventually wore me down. My employer let me work in a field operation eventually so I didn't commute daily. Office trips were maybe once a month and then they let me stay overnight at a hotel.

Heavy commutes eventually take their toll on you. It becomes like a second job at an expense instead of income.
