The White House on Tuesday urged Russia to provide a counter-offer to U.S. attempts to trade for the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner.
Washington has offered to swap jailed arms dealer Viktor Bout for Griner and Paul Whelan, a former Marine.

Given current events, I would be surprised if any deal was proffered.
Wonder what the reaction would be if the offer were: "Admit to US involvement regarding the Nordstream sabotage, and we'll fly her back healthy and on first class"?

I’m not on Putin’s payroll unlike some of the trolls here. But what’s in it for Russia to trade Brittany at this point. She’s far more valuable as a bargaining chip and they have at least two years with Biden administration. Possibly more.

Before the flames come.....
9 years is harsh for some hash oil. But that’s their law and her sentence is commiserate with similarly convicted natives. Like getting caned in Singapore for spitting. Or death for pillow biting in Saudi. Harsh, but them’s the rules. Don’t go if you don’t like it, or don’t break the laws if you do go. Not hard.
If you do go, and break the laws of a foreign country, well its hard to claim unfairness. Try what can be done, sure, but don’t whine about it. She knew the risks and thought herself above it. Sucks to be wrong.
