Energy Markets Outlook : The Geopolitics of the war with Russia and China With T. Greg Merrion Dr. Dan Fine John Byrom Dr. Dan Fine, distinguished energy scholar, Harvard University Fellow and MIT graduate, T. Greg Merrion, Chairman of Merrion Oil and Gas and John Byrom, PESCO Business Development Manager, will be presenters at an Energy Markets Briefing on Tuesday, June 21 at the Henderson Fine Arts Center on the campus of San Juan College. The briefing will run from 10:00 to noon. Panelists will be moderated by Arvin Trujillo, 4CED CEO. It’s not news to anyone recently filling up their truck or car that something’s up in the energy market and (hint) it’s not supply. Natural gas prices are up substantially as well from recent record lows and it’s not even winter. Dr. Fine will share his thoughts about the war in the Ukraine and how it may affect the U.S. and possibly the San Juan Basin as European countries, especially Germany, look for natural gas and oil resources for their energy needs. Although the war in Ukraine is a regional conflict, Dr. Fine believes it could escalate to a more global war if not careful. Dr. Fine will also share his concerns about the conflict beginning to materialize in Southeast Asia between taiwan and China. John Byrom will share insights into the emerging hydrogen markets and about PESCO’s manufacturing capabilities. T. Greg Merrion will offer insights into San Juan Basin natural gas and oil reserves and what we should do to prepare.

It will have global implications.

It won’t turn into a kinetic war between us and them.

But the cold war era proxy wars/games will return.

He’s right. It’s all about NATO. The Russians said it’s about NATO, the war in 2014 was about NATO, the Russians going into the Republic of Georgia in 2008 was about NATO, the Russians went nuts when we brought Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia into NATO 2004. Ever since 1994 it has been very clear. The Russians do not want NATO troops or hardware on their border.

What we are really doing is obfuscating the issue with BS arguments trying to make it about anything else except what it is. Because if we accept it for what it is, we’re not the good guys.

We want to make it about anything else. We would rather talk about Putin wanting to rebuild the Soviet union, idiotic nonsense. Putin having a mental issue and being a madman. Us being their for the cause of democracy or a people’s sovereignty, cheesy crap that should make one gag (we are in bed with China, have Saudi Arabia and Jordan as friends).

We armed Ukraine, trained their troops, etc. All that was still fine since it merely increased the cost of Russia really acting as an aggressor and invading Ukraine. However, the day we decided to bring Ukraine into NATO was also the day where the just cause concept of war went from us to them: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_war_theory

Yes, we are NOT the good guys here. When you lie and cheat (Minsk agreement), go back on promises made (NATO East expansion and ballistic missile treaty), put someone in a position you would never tolerate if in their shoes (hypocritical), and are motivated by political expediency as well as economic gain, while the other side has a legitimate self defense argument, then you are no longer the good guy.

Sorry- everyone might be saying the same crap and it might be in vogue to support Ukraine, in fact I sympathize with them, but regards this conflict and our involvement, we are about as wrong as wrong can get. Backing whack jobs like Azov with their Nazi inspired ideology, funding a mercenary army and making it easy for folks to go their and fight... But not to long ago we refered to those type of fighters as insurgents in Iraq or called them unlawful combatants. We are total hypocrites that not only make the law (as the speaker spoke about), but we also change it to meet our needs (we are highly inconsistent).

This right here started the count down timer for war: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

This war was:

1. Caused by us.
2. We have ZERO national defense argument, nor that we were standing by some treaty.
3. Was predictable, i.e. that this war would happen.
4. Had a predictable outcome.

This was a stupid war, a lose-lose-lose situation where NO ONE wins, not Ukraine, Russia or us. Tell me a winner here, other than the defense industry?

This alone should sink Biden. This is a big stinking mess he created. This was intended to politically pull him out of the Afghanistan rut (pick a topic where you can have a quick success to show the public), but instead he created an even bigger and worse mess with global ramifications. However, unlike Afghanistan he isn’t getting this stinking turd pinned to his bright blue suit.

So, if one simply hopes that Ukraine doesn’t get steamrolled by the invading Russian army, they are:

1. a Neocon
2. want a world war
3. voted for Joe Biden
4. a globalist
5. is a Nazi sympathizer
6. etc., etc., etc.

So, if Russia invades Finland, and someone cheers for Finland, do these still apply? Asking for a friend.

What is it for you in Finland? I don’t remember Russia declaring war on the US over Iraq or Libya.

Understood. So, if Russia invades Finland, we’re good with that. Check.

First, what Russia missed in Finland? Second, it has nothing to do with the US national security. Is it okay that Russia didn’t kill you over Libya? Why won’t we keep it this way?

First, what Russia missed in Finland?

Is that a Slavic word order or something?

Second, it has nothing to do with the US national security.

Nor if they conquer Latvia, or Lithuania, or Estonia. How about Poland, or those evil Germans, or the weak-kneed French, or England? Not our problem.

Gotcha. Thanks for the input.

Any comment on substance of the issue?

Substance: Ukraine is corrupt. Russia is evil. Russia invaded Ukraine. Therefore Russia is the bad guy.

I find it interesting that many who say that we shouldn’t intervene are still rooting for Russia. Even if we sit on the sidelines and do nothing, we can still choose who we will cheer for—like at a football game on Saturday in which we contributed no money to either team. I find it revealing that so many are cheering for Russia.

So, if Russia invades Finland, who will you cheer for?

Libya and Iraq were probably corrupt. The US attacked them. Is the US evil and a bad guy?
Why do you still live with it? Shouldn’t you be destroyed over it? Why do you think Russia did you a favor? It still has the means.
Check out where the US and Ukraine or Finland are. They are not anywhere near America.
Also, before judging processes you only have superficial knowledge about, do some research on the position of both sides. Media often lies on it.

So, Finland is still fair game for Russia to invade. Check. Thanks for your input, comrade.

And, once again, if Russia invades Finland, who will you cheer for?

LOL. You are a human, not a dog, why chase false essences?
You are asking the wrong questions. It is none of your business, plain and simple. If you insist on having a finger in every pie, then expect one day someone to stick it to you, and you won’t be in a position to complain.
