Great album. One riff from a song even became a theme for the Canadian Broadcasting company at one time.

I used to get Supertramp mixed up with Toto.
Both were groups with mild mannered, slightly long haired, average looking guys. Both may have been classified as
Adult Contemporary. Dinner music in a Fern Bar. Both were thought of as ‘a group’, meaning, I never knew anybody’s name, but didn’t worry about it.

They’re underrated for a reason. I’ve always found their music quite boring.

I wore several “Breakfast in America” 8 track tapes out. Brings back some good memories!

When it comes to different john-rahs I’m totally clueless. I only know two john-rahs. Music I like and crap.

My most favorite band of all time! Didnt hit the charts but I really liked “Is it mine!”

That sounds like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart in 1964. He tried to explain what is ‘obscene by saying:
“I know it when I see it!”

Were kippers for breakfast ever a thing in Texas? Roger Hodgson said they were . . .

The Logical Song was a huge hit. You heard it everywhere all summer.

What song does the CBC use? I’m sure I’ve heard it growing up in Detroit, and religiously watching Hockey Night in Canada.

I remember New Year's Eve 1979. Ottawa's biggest rock radio station, CHEZ-106, had their 'Top 100 Albums of the 1970s'. At midnight, Jan 1, 1980, they player 'Dreamer' from Supertramp's 'Crime of the Century' album. It was #1 album of the 1970s according to CHEZ-106.

Supertramp's popularity in North America started in the Ottawa-Montreal area. They were VERY popular in Canada long before 'Breakfast in America' and somewhat popular in the NE US. 'Breakfast' was their breakthrough album in the US.

Personally, I much preferred Crime of the Century and Crisis? What Crisis? to Breakfast in America. I found the latter album to be too commercial. All a matter of personal opinion.

IIRC, that was one of the few albums that were also released as half-speed ‘master’ pressing.

They hit it big with Breakfast in America.
It’s NOT their best.
Even in the Quitest Moments Album (the album prior to Breakfast) is MUCH better.

I enjoyed their music. Evocative of the times.

The production of that album was ahead of its time
