I do not know about MI5, but The Federal Bureau is investigation (STASI) is now only for investigating,
arresting and punishing any domestic opposition to The Party

The paramount objective of the Chinese military system has to be to ensure that China is never militarily dominated and economically exploited as they were by the British in the 19th century and never again experience the death and destruction of the Japanese invasion in the 20th century.

So they probably need armed forces larger than the next few countries combined and able to fight two wars simultaneously.

There is nothing more mendacious than one-track neocons than cannot see that China is the main threat. All they can think about is Russia because they are indoctrinated and mentally deficient.

Comrade Xi has learned much over the last five months:

1) In this new technological era Russia’s conventional military, once thought to be a juggernaut, has been unable to successively invade a weaker adjacent country overland. Xi now realizes that his army of combat inexperienced one child soldiers and his locally produced untested ships, planes and equipment just might face a debacle if they try to invade a resisting Taiwan across 90 miles of open ocean. The consequences of failure for Xi, his family and sycophants would be extremely unpleasant.

2) The Chinese now realize that Russia cannot conventionally defend Siberia and its rich underpopulated Far Eastern/Pacific Asian territories. China has always coveted those lands.

The dopey Russians have left their Far East effectively undefended with many units stripped of 90% to 100% of their combat capability.

5th Army HQ in Ussuiysk is all but abandoned.

I’m sure China knows this and they inevitably see Siberia as a bigger treasure than Taiwan.

China will “invade” Taiwan the moment it feels threatened by the US for using it as a launching pad for US weapons, aimed at them.

Exactly like happened to Ukraine.

The heads of the UK’s security service (MI5) and US Federal Bureau of Investigation sought to disperse this fog with a rare joint press conference warning of the “immense threat” from China.

Both the Virtue Signalling Elite "Journalist/Academics" Intelligentsia at "The Conversation", and the MI5/FIB (intentional) Spooks haven't figured out that the battle is already over and the Pop Culture US Government, Military and Technology has lost.

They should have thought of this consequence just before Nixon "opened" Communist China.

“For China, the invasion of Ukraine has provided substantial intelligence about how the west would respond militarily, economically and politically to a Chinese invasion of Taiwan...”

If China thinks we would respond the same way to an invasion of Taiwan, they may be miscalculating.
